If you want to use a credit card they will add 3% to your bill. We could not find this policy published anywhere! The staff were nice, but they would not bring the English speaking owner over to our table when we wanted to ask for clarification in our language.... Location is nice but rooms, although nice view, have missing... More

This is a classic hotel in the area of Rio Dulce. You can arrive to the hotel only by boat. It was one of the first big and fancy hotels in the area, but right now it totally needs renovation. Rooms, restaurant, lobby, are old fashion and need to be remodeled. The rates are a little high for hotel´s quality.... More

Catamaran in Rio Dulce is a great hotel in a wonderful location. You have to get the water taxi there, We had a room which is a wooden hut overlooking the garden but there are also huts overlooking the lake also. There is a swimming pool to relax in but we chose to swim in the lake which was a... More

instead of a room, we had an own little house direct at the lake. fantastic atmosphere, with a nice place to sit outside. two rooms with excellent air-condition. The restaurant served us really good fresh fish and there was a nice bar, with a clear focus on US tourist. Didn`t understand why we could not pay directly at the bar... More

On first view the hotel looks like an idyllic retreat. Rooms are adequate, nothing spectacular, but they are in need of smartening up. The view from the room is non existent because of the fine mesh across the opaque windows to keep the Mosquitos out. On the balcony, the views are spectacular across the river, but bring plenty of bug... More

It felt like a 2 star hotel, but in a 5 star location. We stayed 1 night in lodge "Golfo" on a 28 day tour of Central America. It's a short boat trip to the Island. There's a large , open plan reception. Check in was efficient. Most of the cabins are on stilts around the edge of the island.... More

We stayed here for one night while on a Tucan Tour. The location at first glance is wonderful with some of the cabins on the water and others tucked into the trees along the landscaped walkways and around the marinas. Our cabin was next to two boat slips. It had 3 beds, a couple of chairs, a deck out the... More

You reach the island on Sledge Hammer from the other side of the river, near the bridge. The island is small, well landscaped and intimate. The accommodation is in bungalows over the river, good location, clean but the rooms are very basic. Hot water was turned off on my arrival, but later restored. Toilet is partitioned area in one corner... More

I stayed at the Catamaran Island Hotel in late March 2015 for 1 night, at the end of a long day travelling from Honduras to then visit the unusual archaeological site of Quiriguá (before a return-trip along the Río Dulce to Livingston the following day) on the ninth stage of my 18-day 'Mysteries of the Maya' holiday operated by Voyages... Travelled to the hotel on a boat, as that is the only way to get there, which was fun. The rooms are wooden huts, some of them over the water of the river. The rooms had everything we needed, a comfortable bed and bathroom ( ok a shower room ). There is also a swimming pool. To buy a drink... More
