Reading the reviews brings back memories. I had drinks and diner at the roundhouse in March of 2013. I arrived by sailboat. I can't help but wonder if the master Dutch sailor one traveller mentioned was the man I was sailing with. He was Dutch had a beautiful sailboat and was well acquainted with the owners. I didn't stay in... More

Even though getting there was a little bit hard us because no boats where going that place, the owner went and picked us up and took us there. The place is comfortable, quiet and surrounded by nature, Chris and Dany where so nice, they introduced us to everyone staying there, we had drinks and a great dinner family style. We... More

The roundhouse has a fantastic location on the river, making it a great base to explore the Rio Dolce from (by kayak, which you can hire for 30q per person per day). The accommodation is pleasant, but very open, so not ideal if you are squeamish about bugs and the like. The family style meals were nice and generous, and... More

To me, Round House is, by itself, the reason to stay in the Rio Dulce area. I can see why people stay longer than they thought they would. It's just pleasant, quiet, simple, well-managed, well-designed. You can actually take a nap in a hammock here without feeling like you're missing anything. You're not missing anything. You're supposed to take a... More

This place is perfectly isolated for those who want to take it easy for a few days. It's a 2 hour boat ride from Rio Dulce and about 20 minutes from Livingston. If you book in advance they can pick you up so it's cheaper than the public boat. The hostel is cute and built on several floors, the dorm... More

We planned to stay only 1 night at The Round House, but we ended up staying for 11 days there. Chris and Dani made this place a home for travellers who love jungle, river, birds and whistling insects, and of course the Eco-life style. I very much enjoyed my daily chilling time at the dock, watching different boats come and... More

My stay there was very relaxed and I was surprised and interested to see how native folks came and went along the river. The owners and staff were always a step ahead of me if I needed anything. There was no waiting. Excellent food and cleanliness in a beautiful setting.

The hostel was clean, beds comfortable and the evening meals delicious. The location is serene and with the exception of the hostel there is nothing else there. The service was OK, I did not like having smoke blown in my face by bar staff however. My biggest complaint is that being in such a remote location the only way to... More

Stayed as a couple at this hostel for 3 nights spanning New Year's Eve. Rain or shine had a fun time. The owner, volunteer workers, and other guests are mostly alternative types, and really interesting / fun / friendly people. Did nothing but relax, eat, drink, visit the local area, and hang out in this jungle escape. ps. Also stayed... More

danni and Chris were very welcoming. Rustic accommodation, no frills but nicely done and a bang for your buck in a dorm room. Massive communal dinners and just a good laugh. Would definitely go back and also recommend.
