we really enjoyed our time here. Loved the river being right at our door step. Beautiful setting.... We enjoyed everything about this place. The rooms were clean the food was good staff very friendly and helpful. It was for a sure breath of fresh air especially after the horrible experience we had at Semuc Champey. I wish we'd come here... More

I absolutely loved The Round House. The atmosphere is incredibly relaxing, and Chris and Daniel make for some incredibly gracious hosts. As well, everything is well built and solid, the beds are comfy, and the wildlife is plentiful. Upon arrival, we were greeted by three extremely friendly dogs, and I knew we had come to the right place.

After having spent a stressful week in Antigua (without passports as they were stolen) Rio Dulce and more specifically The Roundhouse was THE perfect location to unwind. As it's name suggests the hotel is a 2 storey, spacious tree house like structure set only metres back from the peaceful river. the wide open spaces afford privacy and most of all... More

I stayed at the Roundhouse for just 3 days and I wish I could have stayed longer. Pretty sure I'll be back in the December time frame for a much longer stay. The owners Chris and Dani are great fun to be around and talk to. They provide a great atmosphere. On top of the owners being awesome the Roundhouse... More

What a great place - you just wish you would not have to leave. A perfect place to relax - hammocks close by the river, excellent food, wonderful tropic surrounding, great people (including owners, staff and long-time-visitors :-) - there is nothing else you need. In fact, the food is one of the best we had in central america so... More

Yes, you can settle back and stop looking for a hostal right now! The Roundhouse is definitely the nicest place to stay around Livingston and Rio Dulce...and for sure in my top 5 of all central america. The food is absolutely amazing and acually too much for the price you pay, the beds are very comfortable, it's perfect for going... More

Great, relaxing atmosphere. Surrounded by nature. Dani and Chris were fantastic to chat too and very knowledgeable about all of Central America. Take the kayaks for a paddle to the hot springs (only 50Q for a double)! We stayed in the dorms and it was spacious, clean and cheap!

I only had time for two nights at The Round House or I would happily have stayed weeks. Dani and Chris could not have been more welcoming, fun, and hospitable hosts from our first meeting, and the hotel itself is something not to be missed. Built into the jungle, The Round House feels like part of its natural surroundings, and... More

It starts with a boat trip up the river that will be the highlight of your day - the jungle rising out of the river on both sides, dwarfing the boat, is spectacular and not to be missed. And then you arrive at the Round House. It's a funky space designed to welcome nature and blend with the natural environment.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Roundhouse is a social place with family-style dinners. We're located right on the beautiful Rio Dulce in the rain forest. The canyon, caves and hot springs are all nearby. Swim, hike, kayak, sunbathe or just take a hammock and watch the river life. We've got a great book exchange and enough hammocks to read. Or if you're up for a drink: there is also a well-stocked (Tequila!) bar. ... more   less
