This is by far the best place in all of Guatemala. With its rustic charm, amazing food and one of the best staffs in anyplace I ever stayed. And the views are stunning. The owner Dave has a wonderful place and he has groomed it to one of the finest in all of Guatemala.

This is a great place to take a break from traveling and relax. We had just finished the three day trek from Xela to Lake Atitlan and before that had been in a homestay with accommodations just slightly nice than a hostel so this was an nice reprieve for us and let us relax. We were a family of five... More

We stayed in a two room suite (3 people). It felt like a really comfy camp, stone walls even a stone headboard! The restaurant is the best thing about this place the food was always good, morning till night. The walk into Santiago is not too far, and I like to meander. I would definitely stay here again

I resided in a large hostel style accommodation up the hill from the lodge. The room accommodates 12 in comfortable beds each with a nightstand and light. The bed is extremely cozy with lovely linens. There are two shared baths and a kitchen. Electrical outlets abound and there is a filtered water spigot at each sink so there's no need... More

This was my second stay at Posada de Santiago and it did not disappoint. We came with 11 others from my son's wedding in Antigua. David and his staff were welcoming and always helpful. The food and drinks were great and the cottages are awesome. All natural stonework. Clean, fireplace with ample wood. Nice chairs and hammock outside. The lake... More

It would be difficult to give anything less than a five star recommendation at this hotel. It was my third stay on the property and I was no less excited than the first time I viewed it. The staff are warm and efficient. The owner, David, is delightful, highly observant and anticipates your questions by providing a bound essay for... More

There is a reason PdS is listed in 1000 places to see before you die, it's amazing. Quality facilities and world class service makes for a great visit. I have stayed twice over the past 4 years and both times it exceeded my expectations. It's a must if stay place if you visit the Lake.

The Posada de Santiago is a very comfortable and family friendly place. It would also be ideal for couples seeking a romantic getaway. They have almost all the amenities you could want - a full service restaurant with a good menu, a great pool, hot tub and sauna, rooms with fireplaces and some with kitchens. What Impressed Us - The... More

Run by an American ex-pat, the place feels welcoming and cozy. Individual cabins on the property---rustic yet well-maintained. They are cabins, not hotel rooms. Fireplaces in each---a lovely touch. A big central great room for meals. Local art is displayed. Free Wi-Fi. Right on the lake, with a waterfront area and a pool-----stunning views of the lake. Places to sit... More

The owner of this hotel is from the US and he puts on a great Thanksgiving feast every year. The quality of the meal varies from year to year, but it is a nice thing to have when living away from the US on such a holiday. The cabins are fantastic, with wood provided for the fireplaces and just a... More
