I have lived in six different countries and travelled to 54 others. Obviously, I have stayed at a lot of hotels. Posada de Santiago is one of my top three. When I lived in Guatemala City, my husband and I visited Santiago several times a year and always stayed here. It was our favorite place in all of Central America.... More

Posada de Santiago shows great promise. We arrived at the end of our stay in Guatemala on US Thanksgiving Day. And had a great Thanksgiving Day dinner (the waiters neglected to get a drink order from us so we had a dry dinner and at the end they never came by to ask if we wanted coffee with our dessert... I know I'm supposed to grovel and say I'm sorry for a lot of things I'm not really sorry for in this response. Honestly I am very sorry. I am sorry these people ever stepped foot through our door! Beverages were on the table on Thanksgiving. We had a power outage, but water was restored after ten minutes. None of... More

The bungalows at Posada are so beautiful and cozy. The grounds are so well kept, luscious and green. We also loved being able to hang out on the hammocks and enjoy a good read. The view from the terrace, pool and restaurant is just stunning. The food at the restaurant is delicious. And the service is great. We really enjoyed... More

We (an Australian Family) stayed at the Posada with our young children and a bunch of friends, some of them with their own kids also. We had prior to our stay arranged with proprietor David for the Posada to host a marriage recommitment ceremony as a surprise for my wife. David took a genuine interest in making sure that our... This is not a hotel, it's an experience! Whether it's a night with live music, a sunset over the mountain, or "Good Morning" on your breakfast plate in yogurt, this place is great. The staff is indigenous, and speak English and Spanish well enough for you to feel comfortable. The accommodations available range from mission trip dormitory, to romantic cottage,... More

I've come back to this fantastic hotel many times through my life and have watched it develop into something unlike any other I have ever experienced. From the ambiance of the stone walls and romantic cottages, to the amazing food and views. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants an experience unmatched on lake atitlan.

The rooms, the food, the view, and the service are all of the highest quality. How this happens is beyond me, with the hotel owner having the reputation of a curmudgeon. Just kidding, I feel so welcome when I stay there. David and his staff know the hospitality business. The guests and the staff all seem so happy at the... More

My HS son and I took water taxis around the lake..and I left the hotel choices to him based on the Moon Guide...This was one of his choices and without reservations we took a chance that they had a room...They did, a bungalow and since we were going to stay just one night we accepted the price of $75. Wow...The... More

Stayed in a bungalow and a suite. Loved em both. Food is expensive but good. We ate supper only once but had breakfast here daily, which is included, and it was great. Loved the pool and area by the lake. We watched hummingbirds in their nest each day during breakfast. Had an organized birding trip from here too. Great staff.... More

We stayed in one of the bungalows, and they are really really nice. You have enough space, you can open the windows as they all have mosquito protection, you have a little hammock in front of your house, the bathroom is spacious and the water is hot - what else to ask for, especially at that price? But the real... More
