We stayed at Mario's Room last minute during our last days at the Lago. It is truly a treasure and we were so happy we chose it. Rooms were small and quaint with comfortable double bed, shower with hot water, and clean and calm atmosphere. The hostel is located on a busy street but all the rooms are tucked back... More

We found this place to very clean, reasonably priced (130Q for a single), safe, staff was friendly. There was hot water and wi-fi and even a friendly resident dog to share your large (included) breakfast with. We found a great little restaurant run by a local couple, right around the corner. The Last Resort does a great job with fresh... More

We stayed in the older section (front) of the hotel with 3 single beds for two of us. The bathroom was small. The back windows showed the dirty back yard. We felt not comfortable using their towers, lucky we brought our own. Breakfast was good and location is excellent - right on the main shopping & restaurant street.

The room was small but fine. Bathroom was clean with a large shower and hot water. There was a nice garden in the center of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again as it's one of the best values in town.

Yes, unlike so many dark places tucked in the back of ancient buildings in Guatemala, Mario's offers rooms with cross ventilation and abundant light. These are also simply yet warmly decorated and most have private clean baths. Matilde, who is in charge, is a dutiful, cheerful young native -- hence, the service is topnotch. Very economical and conveniently located too.

We cut our time in Antigua short and decided to head to Panajachel for the night before heading to San Pedro. Mario's had space and we stayed in a comfortable room with two beds. The courtyard is great, wifi worked well, and the beds were comfortable. We left our bags with them for the afternoon before heading off. Great budget... More

Stayed in Marios rooms for two nights in february. The rooms are clean and okay sized, but quite expensive compared to other places we have stayed at at the lake. Location is good, but Panajachel isn't that big, so a location a bit further from the main street would have been fine as well. 170Q for a private double without... More

This is the 5th or 6th time I've been through Panajachel over the past 20 years and it has certainly changed. I don't think I'm going to go out of my way to stay in Pana next time I'm through but if I do, I'll certainly stat at Mario's Rooms! The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the restaurant was... More

no-nonsense posada on the main road of panajachel. the inside garden is very nice and quiet, rooms are cheap (you could choose between smaller 160 quetzales or 170 larger rooms in early december 2014), and wifi is available everywhere in the hotel. people is very friendly and helpful - but that's pretty much the standard in Guatemala! an atm happens... Rooms were a little small but very clean. One improvement I recommend is to make sure all windows are screened as some are not. It's a small place so sometimes had to spend a few minutes to find the rront desk staff. Otherwise, it was simple, clean, cheap with central location.
