My girlfriend and I got offered a private room for 220Q which was quite spacious and had a private bathroom, a fan and even a TV. As we were traveling on budget I was asking for a cheaper room. We then got offered a smaller room for 150Q, no tv, no fan, but with a private bathroom. After we put... More

Mario's Rooms covers the basics, and covers them well. It's a great value. It is well located on Santander Street, close to all the action. The rooms are small, but clean and cozy. Rooms with private bathrooms, and hot water. The door to the street stays locked, so you don't have just anybody walking around the hotel. The wifi is... More

My sister and I stayed in this hostel for just one night during our whistle-stop tour of Guatemala, and wished we could have stayed longer. Our room was clean, spacious and had lovely brightly coloured decor. There is a nice courtyard with a hammock and a delicious breakfast (choice of 3 things; I had eggs and refried beans with coffee)... More

We stayed at Mario's Room last minute during our last days at the Lago. It is truly a treasure and we were so happy we chose it. Rooms were small and quaint with comfortable double bed, shower with hot water, and clean and calm atmosphere. The hostel is located on a busy street but all the rooms are tucked back... More

We found this place to very clean, reasonably priced (130Q for a single), safe, staff was friendly. There was hot water and wi-fi and even a friendly resident dog to share your large (included) breakfast with. We found a great little restaurant run by a local couple, right around the corner. The Last Resort does a great job with fresh... More

We stayed in the older section (front) of the hotel with 3 single beds for two of us. The bathroom was small. The back windows showed the dirty back yard. We felt not comfortable using their towers, lucky we brought our own. Breakfast was good and location is excellent - right on the main shopping & restaurant street.

The room was small but fine. Bathroom was clean with a large shower and hot water. There was a nice garden in the center of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again as it's one of the best values in town.

Yes, unlike so many dark places tucked in the back of ancient buildings in Guatemala, Mario's offers rooms with cross ventilation and abundant light. These are also simply yet warmly decorated and most have private clean baths. Matilde, who is in charge, is a dutiful, cheerful young native -- hence, the service is topnotch. Very economical and conveniently located too.

We cut our time in Antigua short and decided to head to Panajachel for the night before heading to San Pedro. Mario's had space and we stayed in a comfortable room with two beds. The courtyard is great, wifi worked well, and the beds were comfortable. We left our bags with them for the afternoon before heading off. Great budget... More

Stayed in Marios rooms for two nights in february. The rooms are clean and okay sized, but quite expensive compared to other places we have stayed at at the lake. Location is good, but Panajachel isn't that big, so a location a bit further from the main street would have been fine as well. 170Q for a private double without... More
