Trying to think of a different place to have a hearty breakfast, a friend and I tried the Pan American. Oh my! What a great buffet with many Guatemalan dishes. You will feel like you went back to the 50's, with live marimba. Great service and atmosphere. Loved it.

We spent one night in this hotel which is suited in the heart of Guatemala city near the central palace. It is a colonial hotel from the 30th all room facing a central square. One can hear any whisper and telephone ringing during night which we found disturbing. The rooms are very simple but clean. I would recommend this hotel... More

We stayed several nights both in January and February 2015 and enjoyed our stay the whole time. The hotel is located in a safe part of town and all the taxis we took knew right where it was. The staff was friendly, their restaurant staff was friendly, and they have ice cold Gallo beers! The rooms were pretty clean and... More

Stayed at this hotel for one night with a group at the beginning of our 2 week tour of Guatemala. The leader chose this hotel as it was near the zocalo which he felt we should see. This area of the city is old and we were warned not to spend time on the streets after dark. The hotel is... More

I really wanted to give the Pan American a better review but I need to be fair. The hotel is filled with history and I love the ambiance and the old-time feel of the place. I remembered coming to the hotel to refaccionar (have an afternoon snack) with my grandma as a child and I really wanted to go back... More

We didn't stay at the hotel but we were here over New Year's Eve and New Year's Day and there are very few restaurants in the Centro Historico that are not fast food joints. So we had New Year's Day lunch in the restaurant in the lobby of the Pan American Hotel. It was very pleasant. The ambiance is charming... More

We stayed here twice during our time in Guatemala. The first time we had a large room and large bathroom on the second floor around the central courtyard. This was quite comfortable albeit old and dated. The second time we were given a tiny room at the back of the hotel which looked more like a room at a Hostel... More
