Quetzalroo is a great little hostel with friendly and helpful staff. It is run by a family who got into the backpacker hostel business after some backpacking travel of their own. This is a great place to orient yourself to Guatemala and get some great first hand information about where to go and what to see. The hostel can be... More

Great place to stay whether your interested in checking out Guatemala city or just passing through another destination. There is free shuttle service to and from the Airport which is great if you get an evening flight in. Manual the owner is an awesome guy and has lots of fabulous advice on Guatemala for any trip length or travelling style.... More

The best thing about Quetzalroo is the free shuttle service. They make sure to get you to your bus or the airport on time. Also, they gave us invaluable information on where to go ans where to stay. We had mostly planned our trip but hearing they're recommendations we changed our plans a bit. Manuel was so helpful and he... More

My colleague and I (two females) traveled to Guatemala City for the first time three weeks ago. We wanted to stay in a hostel that was affordable, good central location to get around, and safe. Quetzalroo was ALL of these things and so much more. The staff is wonderful. Manuel, Marcos, Eduard, and Anna Isabel go out of their way... More

Great pick up service The owner takes you out for sightseeing trips, meals, ice-cream he even let us sleep on the couch in the floor and another person in the laundry room one night, because we decided we want to stay (in the last minute), but there was no more room left for us in the lovely dorms/private rooms! Wunderbar!... More

I had zero plans when I flew into Guatemala city and was planning on taking it easy for a few days before I got to my language school in Xela. Within an hour of my arrival at Quetzalroo, Manu had already drawn me a map of Guatemala with all of the must sees, and set me up with a trip... More

Quetzalroo is perfect for the most seasoned to the most timid traveller. The staff is attentive, generous and handsome (which never hurts). They'll take you to exercise, eat, explore and help you plan your trip. My favorite aspect, apart from the friendly service and cleanly atmosphere was starting off my trip with a group of such socially conscious young people.... More

The place is run by 2 brothers and a sister. One of the brothers was very nice as well as the sister, maid and driver. The 'boss' is a crass guy who likes to show people the fancy parts of the City to impress the ladies, bragging about how nice everything is, as thousands around him in the city starve... More

The people here were great. Extremely friendly, helpful, and genuinely enthusiastic about you being in Guatemala. Guatemala City has a bit of a rough reputation, so if you are not into diving right into exploring the place on your own, Quetzalroo is great. The staff picked us up at the airport for free, drove us around town a bit and... More
