We stayed at The Mayan Inn for a single night (market night) and thoroughly loved it. Spacious, gracious accommodations (we were upgraded to a suite for no extra charge). Yes, there is no TV or telephone or AC or locks on the door, but didn't need them (even with our 10-year-old along). Dinner was very good and quite reasonable, breakfast... More

I don't mean to cut the Santo Tomas, but the Mayan Inn is really the best. There's no disturbance from tour busloads coming and going, and the charm of the distinctively different rooms is disarming. The location is fabulous. There's no noise from the streets, but you walk about 10 yards to get to the market. Walk through the market... More

we stayed at the Mayan Inn as part of a tour of Guatemala. It was a truely unique experience. It was obviously a very quiet time as we were the only guests, but this did nothing to detract from the atmosphere of this beautiful place. All the rooms are different and surround a number of courtyards as the hotel is... More

The three of us spent one night here. Do not expect a Hilton. It is rustically comfortable. But you come here for the experience. The hotel is unique and not a cookie cutter. The 3 of us has a suite with 2 bathrooms which was quite large and clean. The 2 fire places were a nice touch and kept the... More

I am from KC, MO, but I live in Guatemala City now. I took a trip to Chichi for Thanksgiving vacation, & this hotel is awesome! I have traveled around Gautemala and Honduras, so I've seen some of the hotels around here, & this is by far my favorite. The place is beautiful, & the people are incredibly nice! It... More

This is a beautiful little hotel, with rooms surrounding the courtyard gardens in both buildings. Our second stay there, and a delight. The rooms don't lock, but are well attended to, and we left our belongings without concern. The proximity to the market is great. Enjoyed the restaurant. Comfortable and lovely experience.

What is it about this place? Hmmmm. The sheer simplicity of this hotel and its clean, almost cartoonish innocence made it one of the hotels I think about still to this day. After dinner, I remember dancing with an older European lady to a Mariachi band in the lobby. All like a good dream. It gets cold at night in... More

As long as you remember that you are not in the U.S. anymore and have the appropriate expectations, this can be a charming place to stay. But, be prepared for something a little rustic. Although we had requested a double bed, my husband and I got a room with twin beds. The beds were comfortable, but they did have itchy... More
