What a beautiful place to hang out for a couple of hours! We were done being tourists early and needed to find a place to hang out for a few hours until our shuttle was leaving. We sat in the restaurant right next to the garden and enjoyed all the parrots squaking and the fountain flowing. The entire place is... More

The Hotel Santo Tomas is popular with tourists for a reason: they offer a reasonably-price buffet lunch in a nice setting around the courtyard, with marimba music played from the balcony by a group of musicians. Plus clean bathrooms, a great find in this town. You buy tickets for the lunch (which includes an all-day bathroom pass!) at the reception... More

This is a lovely place to stop for lunch. The grounds and gardens are just beautiful. You could spend hours here taking pictures and soaking in the atmosphere. They also have a nice gift shop with fairly good prices on local Guatemalan merchandise. NOTE: this is also a good place to exchange dollars for quetzales, even if you aren't staying... More

The property is lovely and we enjoyed looking at all of the "collections" and seeing the courtyards. We got there about 11:45 on a Thursday and the place was empty. I guess everyone was at the market. They were friendly and the food was ok. What I didn't like was that you have to get a pass to use the... More

We stayed at this hotel a few years ago, and still remember fondly the playing of a marimba band down the hall from our room. It was a highlight of our tour in Central America! The rooms smelled a bit musty, but were clean. They had Macau Birds around the walking areas, and literally thousands of ceramic pots with flowers... More

This is certainly one of the best options in Chichicastenango and is a high-end hotel by standards of that market town. It emulates an old monastery, although it was built fairly recently, and it is obviously modeled after the much more luxurious Casa Santo Domingo in La Antigua Guatemala. Did not eat at the restaurant. Bar service was very slow.... More

I was not impressed. The location is good for the market but that's about it. The desk clerk didn't tell me when I checked in that the hot water only works during designated times of the day. The door to my room didn't lock. It appeared to, but a slight push was all it took to open. Breakfast is good,... More

Not many places to stay here so this may be the best choice. Rooms decorated in Latin American style. Dark. Bottom of the line amenities. Take your reading light. The desk clerk was NOT muy amble. Checking in on Saturday, we had to hunt down someone for a beer. The pool area needs to spruced up but is okay for... More

Spent a couple of days in Chichi on a business trip, but I went on Thursday (market day, which is what the town is known for) and the hotel was packed. This hotel is known not only for its architecture (which although is made to look like an old Spanish monastery, it's only a few decades old); the place is... More

This is our 5th stay at the Santo Tomas in the past few years. We shop for handicrafts for our business, and there are many good prices to be had at Chichi market. It always makes for a better trip to arrive in Chichi,Sat afternoon, the day before the market. There are often good deals to be had the day... More
