We stayed at Lamanai Outpost Lodge the end of February and had the best time ever. Don't be fooled by the laid back attitude--everything down to the meals and the activities is extremely organized, but with a very relaxed feel. From the moment we arrived in Belize City, to the wonderful New River ride, to the second we stepped onto... more
We just returned from a two week trip to Belize. Our first four nights were spent at Lamanai Outpost Lodge. The trip in via van ride and riverboat was exciting but a little chilly and there were plenty of bugs in the air after sunset which even though it was dark made sunglasses a necessity. We started at Five Sisters in the Cayo district & then ended at Lamanai. My husband & I grew up traveling the world & have never before found a nicer culture of people. The month before we arrived Lamanai changed their pricing to include 3 tours per day, perfect when you don't want a nasty surprise on the bill at the... more
My husband and I stayed over New Year's Eve, after having a hellish trip down that caused us to lose a precious day and a half of our visit. Despite the lateness of our arrival at the airport, we were met by Lamanai staff and we didn't have to miss the wonderful trip up river to the lodge. Yes, it... more
We stayed at Lamanai in December 2003. Packages at Lamanai include transportation. Our driver picked us up at the international airport. He was interesting (chatting about local archeological sites and a bit about politics) and helpful (he stopped while I bought a phone card and again while I bought a snack for all of us to eat on the road).... more
