We did a night and day time safari with the chan brothers. Not only did we get within 30ft of a jaguar (which we could not see because it was dark, but could smell and hear walking up the river behind us!) but we learnt so much from the family about what it means to live in Belize. The accommodation... More

Let's start with the positives: Cockscomb Wildlife Basin is an amazing park. It's lush and beautiful, the trails are clearly marked, and there is a wide variety of scenery and wildlife. I hiked solo and met a jaguar!! Even if you are not so lucky, this place is totally worth a visit. In regards to Tutzil Nah, I stayed in... More

For those exploring Coxcomb Basin and/or visiting the Jaguar preserve, the Tutzil Nah Cottages are probably one of the most convenient places possible to stay. The Chuns provide qualified and skilled guides, wonderfully tasty meals, and clean lodging that can handle basic traveler demands, including Wi-Fi service (a bit spotty, but it's there. Just ask if you have problems). The... More

The people bring this property value up a notch. If the people were unfriendly - then I would give it a 2 or 1. This community is warm, friendly and great cooks. EAT THERE --- They do a great job for village cooking! The sleeping facilities are affordable but may be a bit rough for some travelers. It's more of... More

As someone else mentioned, this is not an easy review to write. This is a review not just for Tutzil Nah Cottages, but for the guide and transfer services of the Chun brothers. For both of those reasons, prepare yourself for a long review . . . . For our trip to Belize, visiting the Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Preserve was... More

Gregorio Chun and his older brother worked closely with 'big cat advocate' Alan Rabinowitz as he established Cockscomb as the first jaguar reserve in Belize. Gregorio lived with his family in this jungle as a boy, never seeing electricity or wearing shoes until age 14. Now he is Chief of Maya Center (a Mopan Maya village) and runs this tidy... More

I highly recommend staying here for a real cultural experience. The Chun family was wonderful and very helpful and hospitable. We stayed in the cottage nearest the road. It had indoor plumbing. Be prepared for one step above camping. The beds were clean and comfortable. The shower was a cold trickle and the toilet had no seat to sit on. The food... More

One of the hardest reviews to make. Depending on your take i could see people giving our experience a 1 star to a at least 4 star. It was all how you look at it. Our experience. Booking by email went well and the Gregario was professional through the booking and stay. The accommodations are VERY rustic but clean. The... More

Excellent! We stayed with the Chun family for two nights in May. Gregorio, Julian and Vidal are excellent hosts. Our room was simple, clean, and the shaded porch was nice. Good filling meals and a small store for basic supplies. Gregorio helped us arrange all of the details of our stay, including transportation and tours. He has a great personal... More

Very basic but nice lodging in Maya Centre, located right along the Southern Highway. We stayed in a first floor room that has a bedroom, bathroom with unheated shower, and porch. Home-cooked dinner is provided for an extra fee in a shared dining area. We highly recommend the Heart of Palm Stew----and we promise, you won't walk away hungry. Next... More
