My wife and I were in the area for a research trip, and this was an excellent home base. We enjoyed bringing home produce from the local market and using the kitchen for making meals, but we also used limes and bananas from the garden. If you're used to rustic accomodations, Kumquat Cottage is deluxe. more

Lets face it - for the advertised price, you can't expect this cottage to be high end. We stayed three weeks at Kumquat Cottage while visiting San Ignacio and Santa Elena. We dealt directly with Philip, the owner, through email, and he was always quick to answer questions and provide more information. My two teenage sons and I spent two happy ( but sweaty in July) weeks in and around San Ignacio in 2007. The generosity of Phillip the owner and Roy Gentle ( yes the name means something) made our stay at Kumquat cottage the best of our many trips to Latin America.
