Our stay at Martha's Guesthouse was 2 years ago, but I assure you not much has changed. We stayed in the newest rooms down the street. It was very clean and quiet. We had a couple problems but don't you always when traveling in Belize. The air conditioner dripped on the bed, had to move next door. The lights went... more

My family stayed at Martha's for two nights in early June. We had two junior suties and a standard room and were disappointed. The rooms were clean, but there were dogs next door that barked constantly and I took a cold shower both nights (this may be a city problem). There was also a constant buzzing in room 9. It seemed... more

We stayed in a standard A/C room for four nights. Room was smallish but totally adequate, very clean, nice tile in the bathroom. The air conditioner was a bit loud, but didn't keep us up at night. We were worried that having a room with a window facing the street would be noisy, but never had a problem (although we... more

We stayed in the First Lady Suite on our quick 2 day stay in San Ignacio. The room was beautiful, large, and clean. The balcony was huge with a great sitting area and a fantastic panoramic view of San Ignacio. Well worth the extra money over the other rooms. We had four grown women in our group and the room... more

I think for the folks who got a room with A/C that they expected, everything is probably fine here; other friends of mine had a very pleasant experience. But my friends and I got a funky room (the old maid quarters?) that they had converted into a guest room with screen doors that didn't actually close all the way, 2... more

We were very excited about our Belize trip and had a great experience with every hotel we stayed at, until we got to Martha's Guesthouse. While they charged us the same rate they charged everyone else, they put us into an unfinished room, with a hole in the ceiling, no AC, and a missing door (only a screen in the... more

We stayed in the First Lady suite--around $80/night--which was our big splurge on this trip (our fantastic honeymoon in Belize). The only reason i'm not giving five stars for cleanliness and rooms is that the bathroom sort of smelled mildewy (although this might just be because the area is humid, but we didn't have this problem in our hotel in... more

location, cleanliness and staff all very good. restaurant also very nice with outdoor garden. standard room smelled of sewer gas from drain (masked by bleach smell when we checked in) there's some noisy air / heating thing out back which gets much louder at times during the night more

We chose the Jr. Suite because it had A/C. Very clean. There are drawers but no place to hang things. The staff was very helpful in arranging tours. The restaurant was nothing special. The large upstairs suite is having A/C installed. San Ignacio itself is not especially interesting but good base for excursions. more

Martha's Guesthouse was the most perfect place to stay while we were in San Ignacio. We were in the Double Junior Suite room with Fans (#7) and it was absolutely ginormous! The suite is actually two rooms, one with a full size bed and the other with two twin beds. Lots of light, windows, 2 fans, an armoire for clothes,... more
