Husband and I and our 7 year old boy. arrived at Cohune Palms in late July. Perfect jumping off spot from enjoying the Cayo Region of Belize. It was quiet and away from the hustle of San Ignacio yet it was a short taxi or Mike (owner) ride to town. We did not need a car. Using PACZ Tours (who... more

Bullet Tree Falls is a nice hideaway spot not far from the city of San Ignacio. While avoiding the city's congestion, Bullet Tree serves as a great jump off point for caving, cave tubing, kayaking, rafting, the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve, as well as day trips to the Mayan ruins of Carocal and Tikal. Of the three lodges in the... more

While planning our trip to Belize, we came across the Cahune Palms in Bullet Free Falls (a short distance outside of San Ignacio). We had debated staying in San Ignacio itself, but are so glad we made the decision to remove ourselves from the bussle of traffic and the town. The four thatched roof cabanas, while simple, are just perfect!... more

We wanted to really experience Belize and this hotel allowed us to do that. We stayed six nights. For us, it was a big plus that it was located outside of town. We walked into San Ignacio one morning (took about 1.5 hours to cover the 3 miles to town) and that was a great experience. The other trips we... more

My wife and I stayed at Cohune Palms for four nights. It is right on the Mopan river and the setting is very nice. The staff was good. It is a taxi ride to San Ignacio so, if you want to be near the city you need to factor that in. However, it was always easy to get a taxi. more

As a frequent visitor to the area, let me respond to some of the misleading info re: recent posts about this place. If one wants to be walking distance from downtown San Ignacio, it would be a good idea to research one's choice of lodging, and not pick a place that is not walking distance and then complain about it.... more

There are some wonderful things about this place: The cabanas are really cute and it's fun to live in the jungle in a thatched roof hut. The owners and staff are all very very nice people. The grounds are perfect for chilling out and maybe taking a dip in the river. The down side: The hotel is in Bullet Tree... more

Property? We stayed here for 3 nights in early Dec--low season. So there are only 4 thatched roof cabanas--and that's the entire property. 2 are grouped close to the large thatched-roof cabana that serves as the kitchen, dining room, and lounge, and the other two are on either side of the central group. We were in the cabana to the... more

We came here based on the fabulous reviews on this and in the guide books. The food is very good and the staff is nice. Make sure to ask for the chocolate cake! The bed was not comfortable and the pillows were incredibly musty. I had to sleep with my airline pillow and jacket. I moved the pillows off the... more
