We decided to venture from our hotel near town to a lodge I read about and was intrigued with. It's a trek on a bumpy dirt road but that's part of the adventure, not knowing what's around the corner. When we made it to Duploys the sun was goingdown so we didn't have time to see the gardens but the... More

While this resort is beautiful, and close to the Botanical Garden, it is way too expensive for being so ordinary. We stayed in La Casita and the beds were awful. It is also hard to believe that they charge so much and can't throw in an egg with beans and rice for breakfast. Some birds showed up in the morning... More

Hello, I'm sorry that duPlooy's did not meet your expectations. Although I wish that my children were running the lodge, all of them have been gone for several years so I am a bit baffled by this remark. Judy duPlooy More

Well, I’d love to say it’s great to be back in gray-brown Nova Scotia, but really I cannot, not yet! The lush green jungle and warm gentle breezes of duPlooy’s are still with me in my dreams. Our daughter and son-in-law were married on the observation deck at duPlooy’s on April 9th, surrounded by their favourite tropical birds, their beloved... More

I think that Anna and Trevor's wedding was a memorable experience for all of us - the staff had a great time taking care of your needs, the students were delighted to be included in the party and I had a great time because I knew that my staff was taking care of all of you. Your family and friends... More

We spent the first half of our honeymoon at DuPlooy's in San Ignacio. We traveled in August so it was the slow season and we were the only guests at the resort. They knew it was our honeymoon and since it was empty, they upgraded us to a Bungalow room which was great! The larger rooms are definitely better even... More

Thanks so much for the positive review and recommendation. The next time you want a Belize Vacation, try our new Romantic Getaway Package and our new adventure - wine and cheese at the top of a Mayan Temple while watching the sunset. Thanks for choosing duPlooy's Judy duPlooy More

Can't say enough positive things about this place. The whole package was incredible...the staff (all of the staff) were kind, grounded, knowledgeable and bent on ensuring that we had the kind of experience that we had envisioned. The food was delicious, the accommodations were charming and the surroundings gave the jungle experience that we sought. Our favorite aspect of the... More

There is so much to do at duPlooy's, whether it be exploring the Botanical Gardens, horseback riding, canoeing, swimming, or relaxing on the porch--there is always something to do. My class and I traveled from Castleton, Vermont (from Castleton State College) on a school trip to duPlooy’s, and enjoyed every minute of our stay. DuPlooy’s offers many things to do... More

Thanks for the review. Castleton has been coming to duPlooy's for a long time and the students are always polite, curious and appreciative. It was fun having you and special that you got to share in the wedding festivities. Don't forget that Belize Botanic Gardens likes interns. Thanks again. Judy duPlooy More

My wife and I first visited duPlooy's before our marriage -- and we returned this spring with our two boys, 6 and 8. Everything we loved was still there. The setting is so beautiful and unspoiled and the staff is outstanding. We took the kids horseback riding with a great instructor, who was perfect with young riders. We were also... More

Thanks for coming back. Your children are just the way children should be - free to explore and think on their own. I have a book to recommend. Occult America. This history of religion and the occult in the US is very readable for us ordinary humans. Thanks again. Judy duPlooy More

Whether you opt to explore the expansive grounds on foot, swim in the river or head off by canoe, horse or motor vehicle, there is so much to see and do around duPlooy's. Considering that for any guests, it's a journey to get here, plan on spending at least a full day on-site, because once you are there, you're here!... More

Thanks for being frequent guests and for your appreciation of the natural world. You are right, you can't "do it all" in a couple of days. Some adventures are right on your doorstep. This is a really special place. It is beautiful and feels very remote, yet is also comfortable and has lots to do. The setting is perfect-- wild and natural, yet manicured is spots. We had and incredible visit, staying at duPlooy's with new adventures every day. We are a family of four that enjoyed the grounds at duPlooy's, as much as the outings we where on every day. The lodge really felt like we where in a very remote area, with lot's of activities such as canoeing, and tubing right at the lodge,... More

Thank you for the positive review. Always appreciated by both myself and our staff members who love sharing recipes with guests - makes them feel good. This part of Belize, in our biased opinion, is the best with the most to do, so next time we'll have to come up with some new adventures for your family. Thanks again. Judy... More
