Clarissa Falls is to the West of Belize. It is 4.5 Miles past San Ignacio town, and 2 miles from San Jose Succotz village, we are on the heart of a Private working cattle ranch with beautiful lush green pastures and rolling hills. This is a Nature Lovers Paradise. Our Thatched roof huts are hugged by the Mopan river with the natural beauty of Flora and Fauna. The laid back setting combined with the existing peace creates a feeling of your heart meeting your soul to the sound of the cascading Clarissa Falls.

A special place for sure. Chena was an excellent hostess. We really didn't know what to expect but were satisfied in every way. Our expectations of the accommodations, the food, the drinks, the grounds, the hospitality were met. We loved our whole stay here and Chena and the girls in the kitchen made it so much better. My husband loved dipping in the Mopan river to cool off. The animals around the farm were a nice touch.

There were too many great things to say about this location. The owner, Chena, was extremely nice and helpful during our entire stay. The property is right next to a river (with falls and a great swimming hole) and is a preserve of an old cattle ranch still in Chena's family. The bungalows were very comfortable and clean, with many decorative touches and amenities having been made by Chena herself. The restaurant on the property is full service and tasty as well. Our stay here centered around a trip to the Tikal ruins in Guatemala - we stayed the first night at Clarissa falls resort, leaving our rental car there as well while we were away, with Chena arranging all the travel to and from Tikal using drivers she has had long and excellent service from. We stayed the final night at Clarissa falls upon return from Tikal so we could get an early start back to the coast for some snorkel time. An added bonus for this resort is that it is very close to the Xunantunich ruins for a quick visit there. Lastly I wanted to say how much we appreciated Chena's over-and-beyond assistance with our challenges that started the day before when we discovered our credit card had been hacked and disabled.

We ate at the restaurant here but did not stay at the lodge. The food was excellent, the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The location is over looking the large river and small falls. Very pretty. We enjoyed a walk around the beautiful property with all the gardens. The ducks, chickens, geese and turkeys strolling around were a joy to behold. The owner and her granddaughter were lovely to talk with. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful place this was to stay, especially as the very first place we stayed and our first time in Belize. Chenna is the wonderful host, and I enjoyed all of our conversations about archaeology, pastoral life, and Belize culture. I learned a lot from her, especially about working hard to set up a life for yourself that is not only enjoyable, but also sustainable. I wish her lots of success with this place, and also for her dream of opening a jungle preserve in a small piece of land she owns further away. Please support Belizean family-owned businesses like this one. Chenna is a gem.

Stopped here to do a half day tube ride. The owner and her son are amazing people! So friendly and welcoming. We felt very safe with Mark and thoroughly enjoyed a leisurely float down the river. For a bonus, their two dogs came with us! So fun. The restaurant area is beautiful with tons of birds (we even saw a Toucan), chickens, geese, turkeys, cats and more!

We had a wonderful dinner, breakfast, and overnight stay. The huts were clean, cozy, and right on the river, where your 'white noise' was the beautiful sounds of the river. We had hot water and relaxing conditions. The host and her staff were social and kind. I would absolutely recommend. Spoke perfect English for us as we were from the US.

Room Tip: Great launching point for the X ruins and ATM cave! Internet was fine in the common area.

To feel at home in a foreign country is an amazing feeling. Thank you for everything and making us feel "en casa". It was truly a great feeling for our families and children to feel this person to person connection is part of the magic of traveling. For those visiting, please help keep this place as special. We look forward to seeing our friends again soon!

I always stay at Clarissa Falls when in the Cayo. Right along the Mopan River but still easy access to the highway. Toucans, hummingbirds, parrots, various other birds, river otters, fireflies, lightning bugs, howler monkeys, ducks, geese, turkeys, chickens, dogs, a cat, horses, frogs, Jesus Christ lizards, squirrels, jaguarundi and more may be seen or heard. Restaurant on site is very convenient. Chena is one of the warmest people I have ever met. She is what makes this place extra special.

I can't say enough good things about our host Chena. She does everything, cook, drive you to the Mayan Ruins, get you to an ATM... whatever you need she is there to help. Swimming in the river is more fun than a swimming pool, the food is great, and the Wi-Fi is strong and everywhere.

Clarissa Falls was a delightful jungle lodge and special part of our trip to Belize. We traveled with another family (4 adults/5 teenagers) and spent 3 nights there. Chena was a delightful host. The food was fabulous-the best we ate in Belize (try the Eskebeche, stuffed squash, and black bean soup with meatball and egg (I forgot the name), corn tortillas, and fry jacks with honey). Chena organized our ATM tour with her friend Orlando who met us at the resort (we drove separately to the cave giving us the opportunity to stop in San Ignacio after the tour). We also tubed down the river for a relaxing afternoon counting iguanas. The huts are thatch roof with comfortable beds and hot showers. I can't recommend this place enough!
