Just 5 minutes from San Ignacio, this hotel is your own private oasis right on the Mopan river. From its lush, landscaped grounds to the magnificent architecture, the beauty and serenity is hard to believe. Built recently, but designed to look and feel like an historic Spanish Colonial mansion, it has extensive and elaborate mahogany wood work, 12 foot ceilings,... More

We recently stayed at Mahogany Hall, Mopan river at the back of the hotel was a pleasant surprise. They welcomed us with complimentary drinks and let us relax rather than rushing to the room, which was nice. The tables in the open space close to the river were a great place to have breakfast. The hotel staff is very friendly,... More

I'm a travel writer who was in Belize just last week and stayed at this ABSOLUTE gem of a place after being told about it by an American couple whom I went to Tikal with. Seriously, it is one of the most character laden places you can imagine, even though it's only five years old. The floors and beams are... More

My room smelled terrible, the walls were water damaged and stained, the tap water was brown, the neighborhood was bad, the grounds are very small, and you are far from town. Simply stated, it was not worth it and we wish we would have stayed somewhere else for the 3 nights we were there. I don't think they care about... More

This place is a bundle of contradictions, its issues are well spelled out in other reviews. If it cost about half as much, it would be OK. I would not stay here again, and if you dont have a car, its absolutely a terrible place to stay (well, maybe OK for a honeymoon if you spent lots of time in... More

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We found a really great deal on Groupon so I don't really know about normal per night costs. When we arrived, we were greeted by a beautiful view of the river and a complimentary drink from the bar. We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite which was huge and private and... More

Overall: Where to start with Mahogany Hall? A part of me wonders if our standards after leaving the super-luxe Matachica were simply too high. However, experiences are often defined by expectations, and Mahogany Hall is not setting accurate expectations. They describe the resort as a "luxury get away" where you will be "pampered and catered to" as the staff "sets... More

The hotel had a beautiful view. We stayed on the second floor with a balcony which we loved. The room smelled a bit musty so we had the windows open often to keep the odor down. There are no phones in the rooms and the rooms are a little on the tiny side. There is just enough room to walk... More

We liked this place, but for the price we were paying in US dollars, it seemed a bit steep. The dinner at the hotel, pre fixe menu, is $25 USD, which is crazy expensive considering any other place charges 10-15 USD for a similar amount of food. If you want to splurge, for $275 you can get a suite, which... More

Mahogany Hall was the perfect honeymoon getaway. It sounds cliche but we were swept away by the sights and sounds of the rushing Mopan river and jungle canopyas well as the resort itself. The place oozes romance & tranquility, especially if you book the room with the jacuzzi tub overlooking the river. The views inside are just as pleasing. The... More
