I wish we could have stayed longer! My husband and I spent the first 4nights of our 6night stay in Belize at Lower Dover. Our plan was to stay in comfortable accommodations (it was our honeymoon after all), affordable place close to activities we wanted to do : ATM cave and Tikal- but still have a sense of adventure to... This place was so refreshing, seems like in Belize everyone thinks they are a B and B by just hanging a sign. Lower Dover is the real deal and you are not going to be disappointed. We were on a long drive that day and came in late evening in the dark, no reservations and were welcomed with enthusiastic hospitality.... More

Having only returned from our trip two short weeks ago, I can't stop thinking and talking and dreaming about Lower Dover! As soon as my friend and I pulled up the driveway, we were greeted immediately by Madeline, who has this contagious energy and joy for life, you'll walk away smiling after any encounter with her. She took us straight... More

A friend and I stayed there for a few nights and enjoyed every minute of it. I can't say much for the rooms because we camped in tents but the people who run it are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Madeline is a wonderful cook (ask her to make pizza, its amazing) and is always doing... More

Had a great time staying in the middle of a jungle right outside of San Igancio. Very helpful with setting up tours and advice archeological sites to visit. The property sits on yet to be excavated Mayan ruins and the owners are likely to give a tour of the property as wells very knowledgable of the medicinal plants and Mayan... More

Lower Dover was an amazing place to stay....not just crash. It's like a resort for the adventurous kind! I started my trip to Belize in the Cayo District, and ended up on the coast. I highly recommend staying inland before venturing to the Gulf....There's so much to do, and even more to see! Lower Dover has the perfect central location... More

Bill, Madeline and Justin have created one of the best field stations we have ever stayed in. We booked for one night but fell in love with the place and stayed on for a second night. The meals are incredible!!! They go out of their way to ensure that their guests feel at home. The cabanas are beautiful, clean, and... More

Lower Dover Field Station is in a perfect location to access all of the attractions in the Cayo District of Belize. It is literally right off the Western Highway, but once you're on the large property you feel like you're miles from everyone. Madeline and Bill were extremely accommodating and friendly. In fact, we arrived on Thanksgiving and they were... More

We spent 3 nights at Lower Dover and were very glad we did not pick a lodge out on the terrible road to Caracol. Madeline and her son were wonderfully helpful, they lent travel books, arranged tours, got us take out food and took us on a tour of their own ruin. They even provide ear plugs for those noisy...
