I only stayed one night--in the second story of a 2 story house (story three about to be constructed). The manager was super and the food they cooked was outstanding. If you're willing to go without luxury, I would recommend The Hummingbird (which has hummingbirds in the yard, of course!).

Firstly I will say you do need to be prepared for quite basic living. This is in no way a luxury, uber clean hostel but then again you're in an eco-lodge/hostel the middle of the Belizean jungle. There is still a lot of work to be done here and they will tell you that but once you lower your expectations... More

We stayed only one night because there was a large group coming in the next night. It is a wonderful place with amazing river access and a great hiking trail throught the jungle to a fantastic series of waterfalls. Dinner and breakfast can be had for a reasonable fee and is cooked by James, the incredibly nice local man that... More

- : They advertise a free wifi access, hammocks and rentable tents....but none of these were available. Also, smelly and old bathrooms (just a hole). + : comfortable bed, drinkable water and you can do a 30 min hike from the hostel, in the wood,to go to an amazing waterfall (Really worth it). We stayed one night and had a... More

Let's start saying that there are two kind of room. One is new, comfortable and really amazing while the other is probably the worst room I have ever seen in my life. I can just tell you about the second one. It was an apartment but it was really dirty. It seemed like someone was living in there and they... More

We booked the 2 bedroom "guest house" through booking.com but when we arrived the accommodations were dirty, bed linen was all stained and had not been changed, rotten food in the fridge etc. We left immediately. Found a fabulous guest house down the road about 3 km called Katanu Ru guest house! Beautiful and with a pool! Trust me, skip... More

I love the Hummingbird Haven and make sure that I visit it every time that I come to Belize. It is rustic, peaceful, beautiful and has great hosts. We come back to Belize almost every year and have been coming out to this property for the past 6 years. Each year they continue to improve the property more and more... More

First off the location is wrong on the trip advisor map ... The Lodge is actually 30 miles south of Belmopan. Best way to get there is on a bus from Belmopan to Dangriga. I believe the village is Saint Margaret but saying mile 29 or telling the bus driver Hummingbird Lodge should work. The place is beautiful and the... More

Upon my arrival it was clear that both Candy and Jaime had there hands in my pockets before I had even arrived. I was looking forward to a couple days of unplugging and relaxing in the rural area, but I was basically greeted by Jaime asking me how much I was going to spend. It was apparent that he wanted... Beginning to end it was an amazing experience. Jaime was a delight and his son won our hearts forever. Beautiful setting. Clean, safe and hospitable accomodations.Relaxing. Felt like we were experiencing the real Belize. Laid back and caring people. Locals brought us dinner a couple of nights. Jaime treated us to amazing meal of Gibnut and breadfruit. Hiked to the...
