My girlfriend and I stayed at this hostel our last night in Belize City. The owner (Mitch) gave us an icky feeling right off the bat, but we thought he was just a really spiritual guy "oddball" so we gave him the benefit of the doubt. The entire time we were there he was highly intoxicated, made very inappropriate comments,... More

Stay somewhere else! Please. I didn't like it here, the manager was not really interested in our questions, there were strange people there, people smoking pot in the common area, and the private room was totally not worth it, very expensive, 44 us dollar for one room, with own bathroom, but so small, and not clean. Also, i couldnt sleep... More

This place was great. As in the other reviews the owner may have been drinking and the place seemed a little run down, but that did not make it a negative experience. He saw fishing rods on our bags and was excited to take us out fishing that night just after we got in. We were toured around a bit,... More

Belize City was the first destination on my travels and the Seaside Guesthouse the first hostel I ever stayed in. Whilst I didn't feel entirely comfortable with the city (albeit this was my first 2 days of getting used to backpacking), I found the hostel to be more than adequate. By their own admission it is a bit run down... More

I dont know why this place has bad reviews, I have been traveling for 4 months and its one of the best places i stayed. From the moment we got there we were made to feel at home. We needed to get food to cook dinner on the first night so one of the staff walked us up to the... More

While on my way through Belize to Caye Caulker and San Pedro, I came across the guesthouse while taking a bus from Chetumal in Mexico. There is a wonderfully eclectic mix of people in Belize City, as was especially the case in this hostel. The management was always there to make a home-cooked meal, take us out to the local... More

I couldn't agree more with the other reviews. This place is a dump and I am pretty sure the staff who work there were into dealings of their own. I also felt uncomfortable from the minute I got there and couldn't wait to leave. The owner made me feel extremely uncomfortable and wouldn't let me leave to catch my flight... More

When we got there, it was some time in the afternoon, and we were greeted by a drunk {owner?] named Mitch. He took us upstairs to our room. I'm pretty sure the bed was made from plywood, and the sheets were probably never washed. There were a variety of stains, but the paper-thin walls were a nice distraction. This way,... More

Expensive, dirty, full of animals and strange people. We packed all our staff as soon as possible early in the morning (after spending the night wtching out for mouse and cucarachas) and run away from that horrible place. Just don't go there.

The worst place ever, dirty and with mice/rats and all kind of insects. The rooms are overpriced, with dirty sheet and not really clean bathroom. Dorms are so small you cannot even move. The only positive thing is the kindness of the lady who runs the place. Stay away from the seaside guesthouse!
