The hotel is trying to fall apart, but does have an air of past glory. The big entry staircase is uneven and soft in places, as are the hallways that has many small stairs on the way to the room. Uneven carpeting throughout. The room was worn and in need of maintenance: scuffed walls, rusty metals in many places, peeling... More

Not wanting to stay in central Belize City, we opted for the Chateau Caribbean located right on the sea front. Definitely a good call as it was quiet and there was always a welcome breeze. The building itself has obviously seen better days but everything was functioning just fine, including the air-conditioning, showers and Wi-Fi. The staff were all very... More

Internet never worked, ugly and smelly carpet in the whole place. Walls with dirty marks, very sad. i understand that it's a old building but it's not in good shape; bad maintenance. After our dinner, they want to close ASAP the restaurant so they rushed the service. I found so dirty the carpet and cut nails left on the floor.... More

The Chateau Carribean had it all - a long time ago. This place is not for the luxury and sparkling grand hotel comfort seeking traveller, It is for those who can see past splendour underneath the fading facade of this sea front villa. you will love this place if you can see yourself here in a Bogart movie, with Bacal... I have stayed twice in the Caribbean Chateau, is right in front of the ocean. The room and place is average, the food was ok and if you need other restaurants there are aprox. 300m around. I felt it was a better location for Belize City if you need to stay there. Do not pay overpriced room rate for hotels... More

Belize City left a bit to be desired but this hotel was clean, we felt safe and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were told we had the "honeymoon suite" which I am sure they tell everyone. It was a large room with a King sized bed looking out over the water. There was air conditioning in the rooms... More

Nice hotel, facing the sea. A bit worn down, but the hospitality at the hotel was good. Rooms are clean, bathrooms need serious updating. Food was good and not overly expensive. Rooms facing the sea are nice. Belize city really has nothing to offer so don't stay very long there. Use as a stopover hotel only. Good bakery around the... More

Even if it looks a bit old, which I think givers it some charm, it's a very nice hotel, friendly staff. Great location on the water front with amazing view on the water in a safe neighbourhood. Amazing staff, friendly, helpful. The food at the restaurant is amazing with plenty of local delicatessen. This is the perfect place to stay... More

Stayed here three separate times in one month. Each time it felt like coming home. The staff is the perfect combination of attentive, yet discreet, and the owner makes it her business to ensure details are tended to. This old Colonial Mansion has seen some use, but is being systematically restored. There is a certain charm to it's slightly angled... More
