This is one of those hotels that, if you are in that city, you have to stay there. It would be a unique staying experience anywhere, in these surroundings and with such a rustic feeling. Rooms are spacious and service is warm; they are helpful about anything. Having said this there are no real amenities other than basic, so you... More

The building is charming. Walking distance from the boats departure pier it is very well located and the rooms are clean and spacious. Nice veranda. The atmosphere is relaxing and encourages a time travel exercise. Complementary coffee and tea is available. Wifi is tricky, though. You only get good signal near the reception, which is on the first floor. As... More

We just spent one night here before we headed back home, but it was a nice location near the harbor, felt safe and the staff was very helpful. We stayed with our 2 boys in room 1, it was very large, and a major changing after being in the jungle for 6 nights. The restaurant was decent, nothing special, and... More

The room was spacious and modern. The location, a block away from the ocean provided pleasant breezes and the maleacon was a delightful area to walk. The staff was helpful and did everything and anything they could to make our stay pleasant. I would definitely stay there again, if in the area. It us also close enough to walk to... More

I booked this hotel for 2 nights for my college daughter and 2 friends. They were headed out on a summer program for 6 weeks backpacking and wanted to arrive 2 nights early to enjoy the area. They had flight issues and were unable to make the ferry to go to Caulker Caye to their hostel and needed a place... More

We loved our stay at The Great House. We did not eat at the restaurant. The home was old and beautiful and we loved it. The rooms we had were extremely large with really nice bathrooms. I appreciate staying in original, special places...not a chain hotel. I would definitely stay there again if in Belize City.

The service in the hotel and restaurants were terrible. The food was average at best and the front office and tour cancellation policy outrageous. After miscommunication with the staff,Michelle, about a Lamani tour, the hotel insisted on charging us $145 per person -total $450 - for a tour our family did not take. Most importantly, their cancellation policy was NEVER... More

Arrived at 3pm at the dock from a week on live-aboard dive boat - really wanted to stay somewhere other than the boat that last night so needed one night's stay before heading to San Pedro for 5 days. Very pleasant front staff. The architecture is colonial-plantation style. The building is vast and spacious with large wrap-around porches on each... More

I stayed there with my husband only for a night but we were very happy with the service and advice provided by the staff. Michelle, Nelanie and Tamika were always smiling and more than happy to help. We stayed in room 16 (2nd floor all the way in the back and it was very spacious and extremely comfortable) which had... More

If you're looking for something else than the regular business- or holiday hotel then search no further! An ancient wooden structure with character. Downside: because of the wood it's quite noisy. Breakfast is simple. Beware of the neighborhood at night! But that gies for all of Belize city.

Thank you for staying at The Great House Inn and writing a review. The colonial architecture of the home sets us apart from a regular hotel. The neighborhood is quite in the evenings therefore we ask our guests to be careful when going out. More
