Verna and her staff made us feel at home right away--very "family-type" atmosphere. Rooms were older, but clean and comfortable and A/C worked well. Food was excellent, and served in a common dining area, so it was easy to meet other guests and learn of other activities to do while there. Our guide for the lagoon trip was very knowledgeable... more

We go to Bird's Eye View Lodge for the birding and Stephanie's food. There are plenty of other things you can do at the Lodge, horseback riding, archeological sites, offsite tours.....but we always go for the birds. Usually, we ask for Lenny Samuels, the owner's brother and bird guide extraordinaire, but he was booked this time, so we used Glenn.... more

We booked here because we needed an overnight stop on our way from Mexico to Caye Caulker without going too far off our route, but wanting somewhere interesting . Very glad we did and would have liked to stop longer. The track to Crooked Tree was reasonably OK with a 2-wheel drive car and plenty of bird-spotting on route. We... more

Our first impression didn’t do justice to the lodge’s assets. Though we made a pre-paid reservation for 5 nights in an air-conditioned patio-room, we were told another couple extended their stay, resulting in a double booking for our 1st night. We had no other choice than unwillingly accepting another room (downstairs – no lake view – near the kitchen). An... more

My wife and I stayed here in mid-May for one night. We were leaving Belize the next day and wanted one last wildlife experience before returning to the U.S. The hotel itself seemed dated, but adequate. I found this hotel a little over-priced for what it is ($70 US for a room with A/C in low season). The beds are... more

My wife and I spent two nights here in mid-April for nature viewing and touring nearby ruins. We didn't rent a car so arranged for BEVL to pick us up from our boat transfer from Turneffe Caye. Spent the next two days touring ruins (Altun Ha, Lamanai) and the adjacent Crooked Tree sanctuary. Rooms were basic and clean. Our room... more

This lodge is located on the shores of a lagoon (actually, a sometimes wide spot on the Belize River). Both the lagoon and a small pond behind the ldoge attract lots of birds. Our room was comfortable, the food was very good, the staff was hospitable and the birding guide had a great eye. This place is a winner for... more

We spend my wife and I 2 nights there and it cost us for the sheapest room plus 1 breakfast, 1 lunch and 2 diners and few drinks around 300 bucks. This is too expensive for a room where the restroom wall stop 3 feet before the seilling, You can imagine the intimacy. Plus you don't have the choice there... more

We just returned from our Belize vacation and while there were many high points we were disappointed in Birds Eye View. Specifically: - Price. We were quoted by phone $60/night for an air conditioned 2nd floor room. When we arrived we were told by Verna (the owner/manager) that air conditioning was $10 extra. She literally ignored our protest that we... more

This small lodge is definately for bird watchers. You can either walk the many trails or take a morning boat trip. The water in the lagoon was quite high and the Jabiru stork were still nesting. However, we did see the elusive Jabiru stork two days in a row, not at crooked tree, but while driving to our tours. We... more
