My husband recently surprised me with a visit to El Secreto for my birthday! I just want to tell everyone it was amazing. The food was amazing, the cocktails by the beautiful pool were delicious, the property is beautiful. We took the boat into town a few times and explored, we had a wonderful snorkeling trip and swam with the... More

El Secreto seems nice and the villas are nice inside, but the thatched roof is just not a good idea unless you like bugs. There were dead bugs everywhere constantly falling from the thatched roof. They would clean the place and change the linens everyday, but when we woke up in the morning it was covered with dead bugs again.... More

DO NOT STAY HERE. The staff was not helpful, there were no activities available, getting into town was horrendous, and worst of all, it was completely infested with bugs. A simple bit of research online uncovered that sand fleas and other such bugs are prevalent around stagnant bodies of water .. El secreto villas are on such disgusting body of... More

Very good attempt at trying to be a first world resort in a third world country. My wife and I had a wonderful time at the resort. Food, service, spa, and wifi were good. If you are looking for a beach, go to Florida. If you are looking for romance, lounge time, and a beautiful view - el secreto is... More

We have never been anywhere like El Secreto. We experienced nature, luxury and privacy during our stay in a Sea Villa. The food is very good and you will want to try everything, so be prepared to eat. From the moment we arrived at the airport, we were taken care of. I had very high expectations for this trip and... Terrible!!! Wine list atrocious. Often the food we wanted they were out of it. We could not swim at all because water and beach were full of seaweed and trash. Every time we inquired anour an option to leave and visit another beach.....it was either not possible or $100 per person. We will never ever go back! I'd your standards... More

Dear Guest, I am very sorry to hear that your experience was not up to your standards. Please accept my sincere apologies. Unfortunately the ocean and tide in december were rough and therefore a lot of seaweed came into the beach as well as the Island. Our maintenance team was constantly cleaning the beach and doing their best with what... More

We were staying a few miles away at La Perla, and wanted to try drinks/dinner at El Secreto. But while every other establishment north of San Pedro town offers free pick-up and drop-off for bar/restaurant/spa guests, El Secreto refused. They suggested we take the water taxi (every 2 hours) a few minutes closer, then call them and wait until they... More

We arrived mid October during a cyclone storm. In the morning we were flooded, and couldn't leave our villa. We called staff for help and they made a makeshift bridge using cinder blocks...but did not do it safely. We had to explain to them how to make it. That night we were awoken by a bat that entered through our... More

We booked one night at El Secreto to treat ourselves on our honeymoon. The remote location of the resort and the quality of our room were the highlights. However, for the price it costs to stay at El Secreto, our expectations were not met. The resort told us to be ready for our boat at 1:45PM, but left us at... More

Dear Guest, I am sorry to hear that your expectations were not met. We did have some problems with the amount of seagrass after the storm. I hereby apologize for the inconveniences of nature. We will keep working in order to serve you better. More
