I had fly fished once in my life on the Snake River in Idaho, and that was many years ago. I kept hearing about fly fishing in Belize, and upon recommendation by several who had been to El Pescador, I booked two days all-inclusive. What a great time! My guide, Gilberto, was an excellent and patient instructor. I caught five... More

We just got back from a week at El Pescador and have nothing but good to say about this resort. The food was amazing and the staff was wonderful from top to bottom. My wife is a non-angler and really enjoyed her stay. Sail/snorkel trip to Caye Caulker is highly recommended. We hope to return!

I came to El Pescador specifically for the fly fishing for Tarpon and Permit. I have found the staff to be AMAZING. The food was incredible and the rooms were ok for a fishing/diving lodge. This is not a Four Seasons, but it is very comfortable and the resort is impeccably maintained. My wife and I cannot say enough about... More

The minute my husband arrived at this resort he knew he was among his own kind, ardent flyfishers. The resort has a staff of fishing guides, boats, and all the supplies needed for a positive experience. Each night dinner on the patio was served family style, providing a venue for guests to share experiences about their daily adventures. Our room... More

The setting and the staff at El Pescador make it a very pleasant experience. It is run by a warm and friendly family with a responsive and helpful staff of well trained folks. The feeling of the resort and the amenities leave nothing to be desired. We'd recommend it to anyone seeking a restful and comfortable getaway with easy accessibility... More

At the world-famous El Pescador ("The Fisherman), while my husband, his buddy, my step-son and his girlfriend game-fished, we wives and cousin Scuba-dived, napped, visited San Pedro, and read by the beautiful pool. The staff was a-one, friendly and helpful at all times, from the airport greeter/escort to the front office, fishing guides and dive masters. We enjoyed the ample... More

Once again, El Pescador exceeded expectations for both fishing and nonfishing participants. Accommodations in one of the villas, shared with travelling companions (another couple), were very comfortable. Food and service were excellent. Weather and fishing were delightful. Used Gilberto and Ketchu as guides when one day we took our wives fishing. Caught bonefish and permit on flies. Fishing partner and... More

This was a special birthday present from my wife for a landmark birthday. For years I had wanted to go and fly fish for bonefish. Wow, what an experience! From the minute we were picked up at The Tackle Box pier and whisked off down the coast to be welcomed on the jetty by one of the El Pescador 'family',... More

El Pescador was even better than expected. The staff was so friendly and helpful in every aspect of wanting to make your stay as good as possible. My wife, a vacation fly-fisherwoman caught her first bonefish with the low key help and direction from Captain Emir. I fished 5 of our 7 days with my wife joining me on 3... More

I was met at the airport in San Pedro and never had to worry about another thing the rest of my stay. The boat ride from San Pedro to the resort was enjoyed with a cold beverage and I was immediately met on the dock and escorted to my room when I arrived. The resort and the water in every... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
El Pescador’s beachfront lodge and villas are situated on over 45 private acres with ambiance, specializing in fishing, diving and eco-adventures. We are family-owned and operated with emphasis on creating camaraderie and an authentic Belizean experience. El Pescador is proud of our philosophy to protect and nurture friendship, adventure and the environment. El Pescador has long been known as a world-class fishing destination offering outstanding flats fishing for bonefish, tarpon and permit. El Pescador has been the only resort on Ambergris Caye specializing in saltwater flats fishing since 1974. Since coming under new ownership in 1997, the resort has established itself as an eco-friendly tropical getaway, including a commitment to offset all carbon emissions generated by its guests flying to Belize. Donations are made on behalf of guests to a local Belizean non-profit organization, Green Reef Environmental Educational and Coastal Research Institute, to offset the carbon emissions used to travel to Belize. El Pescador was also among the key organizations to implement the new Law protecting bonefish, tarpon and permit as catch and release species. This is the most all encompassing legislation of its kind worldwide. It is great news for Belizeans, anglers, tourists and conservationists alike. El Pescador is a serene and gracious establishment on the doorstep of the world’s largest living Barrier Reef. El Pescador offers accommodations in guest rooms within its colonial style, mahogany main lodge, as well as in 1, 2, and 3 bedroom luxury beachfront villas. The villas are perfect accommodations for couples seeking romance and privacy, and for families and small groups traveling together. All rooms and villas are beachfront and have unobstructed views of the Caribbean blue waters. In addition to unequaled fishing, this first-rate resort offers all the eco-adventures which take full advantage of Belize’s exotic flora and fauna. Scuba diving, snorkeling, manatee watching, cave-tubing and zip-lining, and Maya archaeological explorations are just a small assortment of the activities available while staying at El Pescador. ... more   less
