As non-fisherman, we had a great time. We snorkeled, played golf and enjoyed the pool. The staff was amazing, courteous and always helpful. The villas are spacious and the food is top notch. The nightly dinner family style was a wonderful addition to a great vacation.

This was our first trip to El Pescador, and assuredly will not be the last. There is a clear focus on the fishing. There is a daily fishing orientation for arriving guests, and daily casting instruction. The rooms are comfortable, the food is fantastic, the service friendly and capable, and the grounds are lovely. Our guide was excellent. It is... More

ALL of the staff were amazing---from booking vacation to kitchen staff. Transportation to resort was prompt. Villa room was very comfortable. I have never been on a trip that I could say the food was excellent 100% of the time---it was here---and cooking our daily catch was amazing. Fishing was tailored to what we wanted to do and catch---we used... More

A wonderful introduction to the island of San Pedro and Saltwater fly fishing. Amazing people. We got lots of love from Miss Judy, Marlin, Mari, Susanna and Issa, Mariano and Byron. Scrumptious food and refreshing drinks. Have a look out for the Painkiller cocktail, its very good blended. Best fly fishing experience ever with capt. Luis, Vince, Ketch and Jnr.... More

That El Pescador is located in Belize makes it very special, as Belize is a spectacular marine sanctuary, the second largest on earth, so there is wonderful fishing, snorkeling and diving. In addition the country also has a unique history and culture and the Mayan ruins provide an even greater array of interesting things to do and see. The resort itself... More

The wind and the intermitten clouds were difficult for fishing but the Guides were great. It's like getting a private lesson in fly casting. We learned so much. The food was amazing, everything made from scratch and so tasty. We went on the Mayan Tour, spend the money and take the airplane it was an amazing ride. The scenery was... More

The wind made it tough to sight cast or fly fish.In spite of that the I had one of the best vacations ever. The staff were everywhere, just trying to keep me happy. Food was wonderful, local cuisine. Fishing captains are knowledgeable and friendly. They share their family history as well as Island History.

First off, I do want to state that the staff at El Pescador is first class. They treat you right and make you feel welcome. But, my girlfriend and I did feel out of place for not being there to fish. Many of the people staying there are much older and we were the youngest couple by a longshot. People... More

My husband stayed at El Pescador for work month before we went back to Ambergris, and LOVED it. While we didn't stay this trip we did take a fishing tour, and it was an amazing experience. Because of the wind we took a long, but beautiful boat ride up to the marine park near Mexico. Our guide helped us a... More

I was fortunate enough to have experienced the amazing people at El Pescador Lodge. The resort is world class and is only out done by the staff who truly make this place a place to remember for the rest of your life. The fly fishing is incredible, and the guides are top notch. The boats are suited perfectly for fly... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
El Pescador’s beachfront lodge and villas are situated on over 45 private acres with ambiance, specializing in fishing, diving and eco-adventures. We are family-owned and operated with emphasis on creating camaraderie and an authentic Belizean experience. El Pescador is proud of our philosophy to protect and nurture friendship, adventure and the environment. El Pescador has long been known as a world-class fishing destination offering outstanding flats fishing for bonefish, tarpon and permit. El Pescador has been the only resort on Ambergris Caye specializing in saltwater flats fishing since 1974. Since coming under new ownership in 1997, the resort has established itself as an eco-friendly tropical getaway, including a commitment to offset all carbon emissions generated by its guests flying to Belize. Donations are made on behalf of guests to a local Belizean non-profit organization, Green Reef Environmental Educational and Coastal Research Institute, to offset the carbon emissions used to travel to Belize. El Pescador was also among the key organizations to implement the new Law protecting bonefish, tarpon and permit as catch and release species. This is the most all encompassing legislation of its kind worldwide. It is great news for Belizeans, anglers, tourists and conservationists alike. El Pescador is a serene and gracious establishment on the doorstep of the world’s largest living Barrier Reef. El Pescador offers accommodations in guest rooms within its colonial style, mahogany main lodge, as well as in 1, 2, and 3 bedroom luxury beachfront villas. The villas are perfect accommodations for couples seeking romance and privacy, and for families and small groups traveling together. All rooms and villas are beachfront and have unobstructed views of the Caribbean blue waters. In addition to unequaled fishing, this first-rate resort offers all the eco-adventures which take full advantage of Belize’s exotic flora and fauna. Scuba diving, snorkeling, manatee watching, cave-tubing and zip-lining, and Maya archaeological explorations are just a small assortment of the activities available while staying at El Pescador. ... more   less
