I have to admit I was hesitant about going to El Secretor. Where in the world was Ambergris Cay? The hotel's great service started when we booked. They handled all the transfers from the airport to the hotel flawlessly (no small feat for a party of 10). Arriving to the hotel is a magical experience. The perfect mix of "being... More

Yes it,s a nice and original place with new solutions to old problems. Manage your villa with an IPod. Changing coloured lights in the garden and on the boat dock etc. But why do we have to listen to Bob Marley or Frank Sinatra from sunrise to 10 pm from loudspeakers placed everywhere? Personally I prefer to sit and listen... More

we were staying at the portofino hotel for a week and after a few nights of our hotel restaurant we decided to take advantage of the 10 minute boat ride to El secreto for dinner. Firstly I have to say the service was good, we were served by Nigel and he was nice and attentive and as such we tipped... More

Amazing service, very friendly staff, perfect for getting away from everything and doing nothing at the beach or pool, but a variety of adventurous day trips are available. The resort is in a secluded area which adds to the exotic feel but makes day trips more costly. Was the perfect one week romantic vacation for us! Amazing.

El Secreto is a fairly new resort about 6 miles north of San Pedro. A group of us friends took my boat and first went snorkelling at Mexico Rocks and then travelled on north ( about 15 mins) to El Secreto for lunch. This is a very beautifully presented resort with a lovely pool overlooking the sea and a large... More

I typically need a vacation from my vacation but not this time. This cozy, quiet "off the beaten track" resort was all about chilling. Not even sure I put makeup on two of the days I was there. Takes a little extra effort to get there but well worth it. Food was good but not alot of variety and alittle... More

My only regret is not staying longer! ElSecreto is a first class paradise! We stayed in a villa on the beach... With a plunge pool. We did not want to leave! The level of service and attention to detail was obvious around each corner and in every possible way! The food was great with a Mexican/carribean fusion that did not... More

My Husband and I decided to travel to El Secreto for our Honeymoon and we were blown away! The only negative thing we have to say is that we couldn't stay forever! Upon arrival in in San Pedro we were kindly greeted at the Airport by "Mario" who loaded our luggage and took us on the El Secret golf cart... More

As a San Pedro resident for past 2 years, had desire to visit El Secreto after reading rave reviews. However, upon inquiring about Coastal Water Taxi service from town..quoted $50US per person for the 11 mile/half hour trip, decided to forgo the trip. Meanwhile my wife had decided to surprise me for my birthday with dinner at El Secreto after... More

This review is primarily for the hotel restaurant, which they market aggressively in town as a "must-see" destination meal at their resort. First off, it's a secluded beach resort, only accessibly via 30min high-speed water taxi from the city center. If you're looking for a honeymoon away from it all, it's probably perfect. We walked around the property and it's... More
