Half Moon Caye is not for the faint of heart and those expecting to be pampered at a typical all-inclusive resort. But, if you want to spend time away from it all surrounded by people passionate about their country and what it and their culture has to offer than experience Lighthouse Reef. The 2-hour boat ride can be rough but... More

We recently spent 10 days on the cayes of Belize organized by Island Expeditions. The first 3 days were spent at IE's tented basecamp on Half Moon Caye, Lighthouse Reef, then the next 7 days, we toured the Central Cayes around Tobacco Caye in a rental kayak. Lighthouse Reef was a wonderful start to the trip with extremely friendly and... More

We spent a week in Belize with Island Adventures, mostly on Half Moon Caye, in January this year. It was fantastic. The staff is wonderful, especially our guides, James, Daton and Richard. The snorkeling was amazing. I was so glad I got an underwater camera before going! The accommodations are basic but comfortable and the food was delicious. Especially cool... More

Lighthouse Reef is an idyllic island escape with amazing natural beauty and pristine coral reefs. First class snorkelling, diving and marine life. Island Expeditions has created a thoroughly enjoyable lodge on Half Moon Caye. The cabins and dining area are comfortable, non-intrusive and tasteful. The food is out of this world. The staff are motivated, knowledgeable and intent on teaching... More

I love to scuba dive, and I have to say that the trip here was the best of my life, and not because of the blue hole-- although the sharks we saw in it were super cool (and a little scary!). Flawless dives, and absolutely nice, friendly, caring, and helpful dive staff. Accomodations were alright as well, and food was... More

We went to LRR with 2 other couples, based on what we'd read about them on the web. Although the diving was great, as good as any in the Caymans or elsewhere in the Caribbean, the junior cabana was not very nice. If we could have, we would have upgraded. For what we paid, we did not think this resort... More

This 15-year-old secluded resort comfortably accommodates 10-30 people with personal service to a man, great diving, and well prepared meals that include interesting local dishes well worth trying. The facilities are well maintained, although they are starting to show a little wear. The cabanas are OK, but upgrading to a suite is well worth the extra expense comfort-wise. It's more... More

We are novice divers but have traveled the world. This place is great. Remember, Lighthouse is about diving, not foie gras. The diving was superb. The trip organization flawless. Food so so but we weren't there for food. Accomodations in the villa were fine, freezer air conditioning. Maybe our timing was perfect, no bugs, rain, wind, etc. I will go... More

Diving out of this world, but lodgings tank We stayed one week at the Lighthouse Reef Resort in Belize. We are both divers, and took advantage of the opportunity to dive 2-3 times/day. The diving was beautiful, and the divemasters were excellent. However, the lodgings and resort manager did not measure up. We stayed in a junior cabana, which was... More
