Spent two nights at the inn and the front desk staff was awesome. Very accommodating. The rooms are clean. They DO NOT need to be updated as another reviews state (it's a historic inn genius....). Affordable too for the location and cleanliness. Definitely recommended.

We loved our stay in the Gibson Inn with its spacious rooms, fabulous history and perfect location. We also got a little history lesson from the owner Michael, who knows more about Apalach history than most people. What a great place and great town!

We enjoyed staying in this hotel. It's very nice, clean. We liked it's design and atmosphere (classic). But staff doesn't seem to care much about their guests. They didn't explain us breakfast hours well, so we came 15 minutes before breakfast was over, and they had already cleaned everything. We asked for a little snack at least, but the lady... More

We stayed 3 nights at Gibson Inn mainly because the room was available. We got the King Suite which was very large and comfortable. The Inn is old and needs some quality maintenance, but is quite a beautiful place. Wish they would upgrade the details (finish work, fit of the door, etc) to make it match the price and the... More

Recently spent two nights at the Gibson Inn. Love the staff, the location and the history of the building, but the hotel needs some updating. The beds are very uncomfortable. Bathroom could use a better shower head too. And all hotels need to get rid of those plastic cups in plastic liners. If you have a kitchen and a dishwasher... More

I also love the Gibson Inn, we've stayed a few times. But goodness gracious folks, please, I am begging you, please get with one of your terrific local chefs and ask them to consult with you on some breakfast ideas. Perhaps it could even be a voucher to a restaurant that is open for breakfast. That being said the Gibson... More

We came to Apalachacola to see if Oysters fresh from the bay were any different than those we get in Venice, FL. They ARE!! We discovered much, much more. The town of Apalachacola is walkable and has many excellent restaurants. Many old style southern homes with surrounding poarches. A gem that is worth returning to again and again. The gem... More

We stayed at the Gibson around Xmas and I returned with my husband & dogs in April. Stayed in the same "pet friendly" room. The large second story porch gives this inn a very old fashioned feel; the dogs loved it. The room was cozy but comfortable. The bathroom was updated and clean. We would visit again. Be aware that... Not knowing much about this area before leaving Atlanta, we had a great time. The front desk night staff(I hope I get the names correct) Kimberly and Lynn were the best. Mark the bartender made awesome drinks and was nice to look at. The rooms were nice and everyone I went into were setup differently. We would stay there again... More

Cannot complain about much with our stay at the Gibson. Very nice for the price and the location can't be topped. Had a nice stay with the In Laws (First trip to the area) and we brought our small child. He loved breakfast outside on the porch. Bar and restaurant was convenient as well. Downtown Apalach is a great place... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Gibson Inn is a fine example of Florida "Cracker" Architecture. This was the style of wood frame structure used widely in the 19th and early 20th century in Florida. These homes and businesses are characterized by metal roofs, raised floors, high ceilings, center hallways, and large wrap around porches. A widows walk and cupola crown the tin roof, all a reflection of the area's steamboat past. Built in 1907 of native heart pine and black cypress, the inn soon became known as a first class luxury hotel and was the only one between Pensacola and Jacksonville heated entirely by steam. Now listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. Many of the 30 guest rooms are uniquely appointed with authentic antique furnishings, cable TV, telephone, and wireless internet. Each guest room has its own full private bath. ... more   less
