Great value in Aspen. The hotel is clean & comfortable. The staff is pretty friendly. The overall property has the charm of a Swiss lodge but the rooms are quite dated. Wifi is poor. The location is fantastic -- just two blocks from the Ajax gondola. Restaurants are close. Less than half the price of the St Regis across the... More

In a previous visit to the area, we were unable to find lodging in Aspen that met our personal criteria for style and value. Prices were just too high. So we reluctantly booked in Snowmass, which we anticipated would have compromises in the style of the community. Unfortunately we were correct about those compromises. But this time our search came... More

The majority of people staying here were either families or older couples. There is a pool that is outdoor on the lower level, where the workout facility and breakfast room are located. Car parking is included with a pass to either the underground garage or on the street. No restaurant, but there are plenty nearby as the location is near... More

To start room well lit, clean & comfortable. Location to shops & eating out within walking distance, as well as supermarket and the Grog Shop. Parking available but very tight spots in the garage and that is for a Malibu size car. Fresh cookies are served at 3pm until they run out and tea & coffee are available all the... More

This is my 2nd review! Each visit, I fall in love with Aspen and the Mountain Chalet a little bit more. The location is phenomenal...walk out the front door and you are right in town. The MC itself is impressive with each room having unique character, a heated pool, fitness room, lounge areas, and a wonderful breakfast room. Each morning... More

I've visited MCA multiple times over the years, and I've always found it to be consistently solid in presentation and friendliness. I enjoy staying in places where they remember your name year after year! The breakfasts are tasty, the afternoon cookies are a great little snack, and the coffee is always available. The rooms are clean, and the pool is... More

This hotel is not luxurious - it has the feel of a mountain lodge and is decorated as if you are in a large log cabin-style hotel. The breakfast buffet in the morning comes with the room and is above par. The room were a bit dark but spacious. The pool was a nice meeting point for guests since we... More

I now live in Aspen, CO and I am a member of The Aspen Rotary. The owner of The Mountain Chalet is also a member of Rotary. His family has been in town since the early years of Aspen when it was a mining town, and helped move it skillfully into a ski town. I am fascinated by the number... More

I stayed at this hotel in June with a friend. We were in a very basic room with 2 twin beds, but found it to be clean and comfortable. The hotel is located within walking distance of downtown Aspen and is more affordable then many of the other options with a similar location. We enjoyed the breakfast, the 24 hour... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2015

The free hot breakfast is a major draw, especially for families. Hotel is not a sterile corporate hotel, it has character (and thus, aesthetics are not perfect). Could use some touch-up on paint and aesthetics, but it is a very nice hotel that I recommend. It is pet friendly and across the street from a large open space acceptable for... More
