I had heard about Catalina Island while on a business trip to Costa Mesa, California. Being from the east coast and moving to the deserts of Las Vegas, I desperately missed the shoreline. So, when I took the week of my birthday off, Catalina Island was the first place I thought of to go and explore. We had Cottage D,... More

Location is good and close to everthing but unfortunately I was not very satisfied with the room. The room was stifling hot and even with 2 fans going it did not cool off the room which was on the third floor. Bed was poorly made and towels had to be requested as none were in the room upon arrival. Only... More

My daughter and I stayed in a 3rd-floor no-AC room for the weekend. It was exactly what we expected, and we were very happy with our stay. The hotel is historic, which is appealing but it's important to recognize that "historic" also means "old". So yes, the building is old, the rooms are old, the bathroom fixtures are old, the... More

This was a perfect location for our family. My children are aged 10-16 and were able to walk basically everywhere they wanted to go, including the beach and golf course, on their own. Down the street is an arcade and a Vons grocery store, as well as several options once you reach the main street, including restaurants and shopping, a... More

When i had originally booked a room for 3 at this hotel, my idea was to find a reasonable place to sleep at since we would be out for most of the day.My initial communication with the staff was a great experience. They were very accommodating to my specific requests and were always available to answer my questions. We arrived on... More

Arrived on the Ferry to Avalon around 12:30 and made our way to hotel via taxi. Very nice young man (Jaime) checked us in and he mentioned that they have a shuttle to and from the Pier. This was not on our confirmation and would have been helpful and saved us $15 - no big deal though. Our room was... More

The hotel staff was very nice, but the hotel was VERY EXPENSIVE we paid $424.00 per night for the 4th of July 2014 weekend regarless it was very duty and desperately in need of a touch up. The stove in the kitchen had a gas leaking problem, we were wondering if we were gonna be able to wake up in... More

We needed a last minute room to spend the night on the island and decided on Hermosa Hotel, since we heard of the low prices. For a Friday night in June, we paid $135 with tax. For a weekend night on the island, sure it is a steal. However, this hotel establishment desperately needs a makeover and for the housekeeping... More

The Historic Hermosa Hotel was lovely and quaint with several modern touches. My husband and I loved the cottage style room we were given on the third floor. Our room had a twin bed and a queen bed as well as a fridge, a microwave and a coffee pot. The appliances sat atop wooden furnishings. The drawer in the stand... More
