This is the second time we have stayed here. First time was for my birthday, and I got the free round-trip ferry ride through Catalina Express and received the birthday special at Hotel Villa Portofino, which included a free bottle of wine for my husband and myself. Second time was recently with my Mom. We were able to reserve first... More

Villa Portofino is a cozy little hotel right along the so-called beach front of Avalon. A great location, toward the end of the main avenue, far enough away from the noise, but close enough to be a short walk from an over zealous night at a bar! The front desk staff was always cheerful and helpful, eager to advise and... More

walking distance from the ferry, the Villa Portofino is directly across from the sea and right in the village of Avalon, with shops, restaurants, coffee houses, etcetera. Fun times in the laid-back small town. Most people drive about in golf carts. You can walk from the hotel to the famous casino (now used as a theater) as well. A continental... More

This is a very nice hotel with very good staff and service. We encounters some very noisy patrons late one evening, who were keeping us awake. When we informed the hotel manager, he switched us to a larger room which was much quieter. This was exceptionally nice and more than we expected. We also found the continental breakfast to be... Villa Portofino provides complimentary taxi vouchers to and from ferry terminal. Also included in room rate is wifi; continential breakfast; reservation of ferry tickets. Standard room is small but sun deck and vicinity to shops, Avalon Bay, Casino, and restaurants makes it an ideal location. Unfortunately reception staff did not promote Catalina Islands spots to visit. We checked online and... More

We stayed here for 3 days for Christmas. Hotel is a little old but that was okay. A lot of hotels on Catalina could be considered a little old but they are charming. We stayed in the Miramare suite. It had a balcony, fireplace and small refrigerator. This would be considered a standard hotel room on the mainland but it's... More

Just stayed their again 4 nights over Thanksgiving. We always stay here when we come to Catalina. Yes the queen room is very small, but it suits our needs for Catalina. We love hanging out on the sundeck. This time, it wasn't opened at 10am on 2 of the days we were there. We had to go out and take... More

The Villa Portofino is on the main road, but closer to the casino, which means it was quieter at night and during the day. We were here during low season so we didn't have to struggle with many tourists and the noise level was manageable. The room itself was older and outdated (orange faux- marble walls covering the entire bathroom),... More

This hotel is a quaint boutique CA beach style hotel. The rooms are basic but clean. The property seems family run and the staff I encountered were helpful. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant on the property and sat on the patio with a great view of the sun setting over the mountain.
