The Carlton Hotel is a well appointed hotel near the Paso Robles Wine country and San Luis Obispo. The rooms and beds are large/comfortable and the bathrooms are freshly re-done with separate tub and shower. Atascadero is small quiet town but the property is close to the freeway and attractions in the area. Room prices are a great value.

Check in a breeze , room well light spacious and clean . All the amenities were available, staff friendly and efficient . Valet parking reasonably priced for the area. Would recommend especially for romantic get aways , the place ooze character .

Stayed here during a weekend of wine tasting near Paso Robles. Nice home-base for the weekend. Comfortable room and bed, and the bathrooms are quite nice with large tub and separate shower. Quiet hotel. The historic ambiance was a nice break from the more cookie cutter spots. Close to wine tasting....20-30 minutes from the coast. Can walk to a few... More

This is a gem of an old hotel in the quiet little town of Atascadero, convenient to Hearst Castle, the many Paso Robles area wineries and about 4 hours south of San Francisco. Various ocean beach sites are 30 minutes away. This was a comfortable overnight stop on the way to SF. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but... More

This hotel is like stepping back in time. It was very quite and quaint. The rooms are are very decorative and offer nice big beds. The service is very hospitable . It is in a smaller town so most businesses close early. It has a romantic feel to it in my opinion. I would recommend this hotel if you are... More

We loved The Carlton Hotel. It is right off the freeway a bit south of the winery off ramps. It is beautiful and the rooms are large with very nice baths. The staff is quite knowledgeable with concierge-type questions. Note the restaurant space attached to the hotel is for lease, so they don't offer food except donuts and coffee in... More

I had another opportunity to stay at The Carlton for several days. As always, everything was perfect. Very courteous and helpful staff. Very peaceful and quiet. Excellent housekeeping. A new coffee shop, Socrates, opened up two weeks ago just around the corner for a morning coffee and pastry. The Carlton has become my favorite place to stay when in the... More

Our room was a good size, bathroom nicely renovated, clean and had all the amenities we needed. The front desk was very friendly and provided good restaurant suggestions. I wish there was a restaurant at the hotel, but that's a minor inconvenience. The hotel's parking lot sometimes gets filled up, so you have to circle around to find additional parking.... More

The Carlton Hotel was charming! It is beautiful and the people who work there are very kind and accommodating. We had a great time on our second visit and we know there will be a third! We were a bit disappointed that the bakery was closed, but The Fig down the street was a great alternative.

We were pleasantly surprised when we drove up to the front door of the Carlton Hotel just off the 101. You felt as if you were transported back to the 1940s with all the beautiful wood, library, and staircase. However it seems a bit mis-placed as there is not much going on anywhere nearby. The hotel's restaurant is closed down... More
