We arrived on a Monday afternoon and were immediately greeted. We enjoyed some wine and cheese and then retreated to our room. The rooms were great. The bed as so nice I could have slept all day. Then next morning we were treated to a delicious breakfast. Great place to relax and kick back.

It's been a long time since we've been able to get away WITHOUT our children. This is exactly what we needed. Arnold Black Bear Inn is such a gem. The host and hostess are great and were very attentive to our needs. The food is out of this world amazing. The Inn and rooms are immaculate with hidden little touches... More

The Black Bear Inn is a beautiful property run by a lovely couple; Bruce and Wendy. It is definitely a home away from home with every comfort you could ask for. It is in a quant town near Calaveras Big trees and Alpine Lake. The food was delicious and visually beautiful. We had a great choice of anti pasta paired... More

The easiest way to do this is to just read all the other reviews before ours and believe every word. We came here for our daughters wedding. While putting us up in all 5 rooms and coordinating all the vendors, Bruce and Wendi also catered the rehearsal dinner Friday night. They took "accommodating" to a whole new level. When wedding... Stayed at the Black Bear Inn in Arnold, CA with my brother for our fishing trip and it was as wonderful as I remembered! It was like visiting an old friend! The Proprieters, Bruce and Wendy were incredibly nice and we were treated to the five star culinary skills of Chef Bruce!!! We look forward to staying there again and... More

We stayed here last year with our family of preteens and teens as we drove from Florida thru the Tahoe area and on to Seattle. It provided a wonderful place to "lay our weary heads". After driving over those winding mountain roads(decidedly UNcopasetic for flatland Floridians!), it gave us an oh-so-comfortable reprieve which we all appreciated. Clean as a whistle... More

Out of all the Bed and Breakfasts we have enjoyed, the Black Bear Inn is the one we find the most comfortable and relaxing. If you love the mountains, the setting is elegant simplicity on the edge of the forest. Bruce and Wendy embody hospitality and warmth. They are such special people it's hard to stay away. Gerri and Joe... More

Thank you, Wendi & Bruce for your hospitality and care. We appreciate all of the fine tuning you have done to make a guest welcome. We are grateful. Only the best of everything! Clean & private hot tub, great wine & cheese plate, Termperapedic mattress cover, Direct TV, view of the trees, quiet location close to BIG TREES.

A matter of days ago we celebrated a wedding there. I was apprehensive as a smoker, a distant relative, a night owl, and new to California's high country. Our room had a couple chairs and a table just outside the door and Wendi brought us an ashtray. They worked very hard to help prepare the grounds for the upcoming event.... More

What a wonderful experience! The Black Bear Inn owners, Wendi and Bruce, are awesome. They made our stay amazing from dinner recommendations to setting up the the reservations. Bruce's breakfasts are delicious and beautifully displayed and the wine and cheese in the early evenings set the tone. The hiking trail (The Arnold Rim Trail) is easily accessible from the Inn...
