We've stayed at Mad River Rapids RV Park several times over the years, most recently in May 2014. First, if you are looking for a "campground" in the redwoods, this is not it. This is an RV park in a semi-suburban setting, although directly across the road is a lush cow pasture! Despite the name, it's not really close to... More

If your looking for a place to do a few loads of laundry and have your kids run out their energy this isn't the place. Playground is run down and laundry closes at 9pm. There is an apartment complex next door, the residents use the pool and walk around the park. The goodsam ratings must have been rigged.

Friendly. The area in general has a lot of transients and can be uncomfortable at times. This does not refer to the rv park, but a spot that's well lit and can be seen by the office would be a good idea. Park seems to have a number of residents. Showers offer privacy by curtain only, no lockable door. Hot... More

We have been traveling two weeks and arrived here coming north from Carmel. Our greeting was very warm and gracious. Our host was more than accommodating and went overboard explaining the area. The park and facilities are meticulous and feel very welcome here. My only concern was not booking more time here. We will definitely be back.

Stayed here for two nights as part of our journey up the coast of Northern California. We had a very welcoming greeting on arrival and the staff we met during our visit were friendly and helpful. Good, clean restrooms and laundry. The pool and hot tub looked good but we didn't try them. The site was quiet, despite the fact... More

This park is not fancy, but the location and people make it a nice place to stay. The accommodations are adequate for the area. It is our first choice of places to stay when visiting our daughter at Humboldt State University.

Traveling through northern California this appeared to be our best option for the night. Only place we could find between Brookings, OR and Eureka, CA on the 101 with paved pull through sites. $36 a night with the GS discount is a bit steep for this location, but I am willing to pay for the ease of paved pull through... The Good: California Welcome Center is around the corner. There is a good Mexican restaurant next to the park. The pool was warm, but didn’t go swimming. Restrooms semi-clean. Laundry worked and was $2.50 a load. The Bad: No Security. People from outside the park walked in to use the restrooms. They have a 3 digit “secret” code for their... More

The managers (Tim and Sandy) are AWESOME! Always there to help you out. They go above and beyond to take care of their residents/guests. This is the cleanest, quietest RV park around! Whether you are passing thru or looking to stay for awhile, this is the place you should stay. Clean showers and bathrooms, laundry, well-stocked convenience store, hot tub... More
