The stay at Apple Lane Inn was delightful ! Right when we arrived, Doug greeted us, & gave us the history and a tour of the house. Him & Carol were such a cute couple, very inviting, & caring. Breakfast was incredible, we loved sitting at the table with all of the other guests staying at the inn. Every room... more

Apple Lane Inn is a 125 year old elegant farmhouse. We stayed in "Uncle Chester" and slept in a 225 year old poster bed. The room had charming squeaky wood floors (you'd squeak too if you were 125 years old). I enjoyed feeding crab apples to the goat and horse. Doug, the innkeeper is "a kick". We really enjoyed him.... more

Hello all ... if you want a quiet, nice, rustic, and historic place to stay while having fun in Santa Cruz, then this is your place. It is such a nice break from your typical Holiday Inn, Ramada Inn, and Motel 6! Yes, this place is old but that's the allure! This B&B is from the 1870's and the floor... more

I recently enjoyed a wonderful experience at the Apple Lane Inn. I stayed for four nights and enjoyed the scenery around the Inn but also at the Capitola Beach. The first encounter of the Inn is a driveway of apple trees on the right and a red barn halfway up the driveway with an antique green pickup truck setting the... more

I am writing this to let everyone know about the great treatment and warm hospitality that I received from my recent stay at this bed and breakfast. Brett Stolz went out of his way, above and beyond the call of duty, to make sure that my stay there was exceptional. I travel often and must say his was the best... more

We had the BEST anniversary staying at your beautiful bed and breakfast. The service we received at Apple Lane Inn surpassed our expectations: upon arriving Victor welcomed us and took our bags up to our room, he gave us a tour of the place and a little history lesson of the house. The concierge service was exceptional! Being new to... more

Based on previous reviews and my current experience, it appears ownership has changed from late 2004 to the current. I totally agree with ratings published 7/2006; 2/2006 and 7/2005 with a few exceptions. We have stayed in many B&B's and this was probably the worst breakfast, etc. The bed was uncomforatable, inn needed a good cleaning, the linens were tired... more

This is a neat old house, but it's starting to show some wear in spots. Still, the room was pretty. Unfortunately the breakfasts are completely uninspired: cereal, yogurt, a slice of sweet bread, and a dull "mass omlette" made for all eight guests and hacked into individual squares. The owner is often absent and the stand-in is barely competent. Great... more

This inn offers decent accommodations. The house is quaint and historic, but the (absent) innkeepers have not updated the bed and linens. We stayed in the smallish Uncle Chester's Room with the most uncomfortable bed we've ever slept in. Breakfasts also ran on the small side--contrary to the reviews on this site. more

We were in town for a weekend and stayed in the Pineapple room. The house itself is on the register of historic places, and sits in a secluded spot off a busy road close to Route 1 (about a half-hour from Monterey and a few minutes from Santa Cruz). There were even tiny deer in the driveway a couple times... more
