Even though I booked the room back in March on Hotwire for my June stay, when I confirmed my reservation and requested nonsmoking a couple days before my stay, the front desk person said they would "try" to get me a nonsmoking room but they didn't know who might be extending their stay and availability of nonsmoking rooms was unknown. I had to work that day then drove up, so when I arrived at 9:30 PM they had ONE room left (really?) and they said it was smoking, take it or leave it, it didn't matter how long ago I made my reservation.

Fortunately I only stayed one night as my other hotel (Hyatt Regency) was booked that particular night. Stale smoke odor hit me as I opened the door, and the odor saturated into everything in the room. The carpet was filthy with many cigarette burns. The kitchen counter was covered in yellow stains and had bits of crumbs left on it. After having been there only five minutes I left for dinner and could already smell that the smoke... more
