My company had a business event at this historic hotel. The staff was very helpful, the food was really good and the ambience of a historic hotel was a great counter-balance for our technology. Bonus, being able to stay at the hotel made an easy transition.

Nice, quiet, comfortable place. I'd stay here again. I was eating dinner at the Italian restaurant and decided to walk next door to the Niles Hotel and see what the rooms were like. The queen bed room they showed me was quite nice and not too foo-foo, so I decided to stay here. I had Room 14 at the end... More

Driving into Alturas, this hotel looked very promising and did NOT disappoint in the least! The rooms were cozy, the food in the restaurant excellent, and the staff is friendly in the extreme. No reason to look for any other lodging in Alturas…the NILES has it going ON! And of course, Starbucks, too! My only wish would be for more... More

The hotel is the real deal! 100 years old, quaint, charming & different. This is the place to stay in Alturas. Did I mention there is a Starbucks in the building? You can't miss it! That's where you check out in the morning!

Four couples stayed at the Niles during a road trip to Northern California and the redwoods. The hotel is charming, historic and a bit quirky. We checked in at the bar and cheeked out at the attached coffee shop the next morning. Both our room and the bed were clean and comfortable. Overall a good experience and by far the... More

This is a great place if you like history, wonderful food, good atmosphere, and most importantly a great staff. I left my iPad in my room. They found it and mailed it back to me. I would go out of my way to stay there again. It is a little rustic, but that is part of the charm.

We went here for dinner on the fourth, our service was fine, but the food was horrible. We kept hearing complaints from tables around us and almost wanted to leave, they need a new cook or at least someone who knows how to cook. I had the halibut, small and dry. The pilaf rice was mushy and tasteless. As were... More

The Niles Hotel is a beautiful old historic building. We traveld to Alturas to have dinner there because of good reviews we had heard from others. However, our experience was not a good one. Our meal and service was good up to when the main course was served. Two of us ordered the Rib Eye steak and when it came... More

What a beautiful old hotel. The owners are slowly reviving this gem in north eastern California. This is a no frills hotel. No tv's or radios in the rooms. If you want to take a step back in time then stop in and check it out. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. There is a sports... More

We stayed at the over 100 yr. old hotel in Alturas. They are in the process of remodeling and restoring it. It was a wonderful experience. The food we had served at our banquet was exceptional and the staff never quit working the whole weekend we were there. We were asked if we had seen the ghosts the night before.... More
