We found this hotel charming. You can look at the rooms on their website. We chose the bridal suite. They is no central heat so our room was very cold. The space heater took hours to heat the large space. There was nowhere comfortable to sit. We had two dining room chairs, a couple of dressing table benches. Even the... More

Please don't think you're going to a Hilton when you stay at the Niles Hotel. Also, don't think you're going to a highly sophisticated B&B. What you ARE going to is a wonderful 107 year old hotel, in the process of loving rehabilitation. I believe the Niles Hotel is the best thing going in this small, dusty corner of Northern... More

On a long road trip I was tired out when I reached Alturas heading home. Just saw the sign "Hotel" and eased to the curb, thinking I'd use the GPS to locate a place to stay. I saw the sign "Saloon" and went in - very "old", rustic and with a very nice bartender - April. I asked about staying,... More

When they say you can't check in till 3pm, believe it. The Saloon doesn't open till then. The bartender in the Saloon checks you in, and gives you the keys. I believe once the salon closes there isn't anyone on site. So don't arrive late. Hubby had booked the "Birds and Bees" room. Getting to the room you can either... More

Very cool place! This is an old nostalgic hotel from a time period a century ago that's been created and cared for by the owners to make it a wonderful experience to stay. It may be old, but it's clean and comfortable. My lady and I absolutely loved it here.

I happened upon the Niles Hotel in "downtown" Alturas, CA, after a long day driving from Portland, OR, on my way to Ridgecrest in the Mojave. Alturas is a charming old cow town with a main street that seems like something straight out of Bonanza, and the Niles Hotel is no exception. The old place has a country Victorian charm... More

Don't waist your money! Rooms are ok small! If you have dinner at the way over priced restaurant prepare for terrible service. I come from a small town and I know things take more time in a small town but this was terrible. Couldn't even get the order right. Then asked "well what do you want me to do about... More

We popped into the Niles for a drink in the quaint bar, then stayed for dinner (excellent) and then were treated to a guided tour of this beautifully restored old building. Having seen the great rooms and enjoyed the hospitality of the Niles, I wish that, for a dollar LESS than we paid at the Best Western Trailside Inn, we had... More

My company had a business event at this historic hotel. The staff was very helpful, the food was really good and the ambience of a historic hotel was a great counter-balance for our technology. Bonus, being able to stay at the hotel made an easy transition.

Nice, quiet, comfortable place. I'd stay here again. I was eating dinner at the Italian restaurant and decided to walk next door to the Niles Hotel and see what the rooms were like. The queen bed room they showed me was quite nice and not too foo-foo, so I decided to stay here. I had Room 14 at the end... More
