My husband had an IT training in the hotel's meeting room, so we decided to stayed here to avoid the driving. We stayed five nights Sunday trough Friday. The area: Is nice in the day, the traffic is not bad, with everything you want or need very close to the hotel; like a wallgreens 2 blocks away, a "Lucky" grocery... more

Our hotel is located in Alameda which is an island city right next to Oakland and most of our guests choose to stay with us rather than at a hotel in Oakland, even though they have to visit or work in Oakland. Many of our guests have found it safe to walk, even at night, to the several nice restaurants...

We stayed at the Hawthorne while in California and attending a graduation. It is only about 15 minutes from Berkeley and easy to get to. The hotel gave us our preferred room on the top floor at the end of the hallway. Check in was quick and easy and the hot breakfast was a good way to start the day.... more

If you are wanting to stay on Alameda Island, Oakland, or somewhat near the airport in a bit quieter of a setting you can't go wrong here. But if you are wanting Emeryville, Berkeley, or other places North of Alameda there are probably better options. The property: This is my first stay at any Hawthorn Suites. This property is the... more

The room was large as was the bathroom. It was nicely furnished. We were surprised that the couch bed was only a twin (we ended up putting one of our kids on the floor). The breakfast was above average. The front desk was helpful. Overall a good experience. more

I spent a night here recently while on business. The cost is very good for the location and the room is huge! Very comfortable bed, good working AC unit, big bathroom. Room was very clean. The free breakfast is much better than the standard continental fare you usually get in a hotel. Eggs, sausage, pancakes, etc. I highly recommend this... more

I would just like to echo the other favorable reviews. In a VERY expensive Bay Area lodging market, this is a remarkable value. Just a few minutes from underrated and interesting downtown Oakland and Oakland Chinatown (and BART stations - the best way to travel the area), a few minutes from the freeway and access to San Francisco - about... more

My family and I just returned from a week stay in California. The sole purpose was to visit family and to attend my Father's School Reunion. From the very beginning the staff was more than friendly (even at midnight!). Our rooms were close to one another and quite cozzy. The morning breakfast was fantastic! Everything from pastries, potatoes, meats and... more

Overlooking a busy street on the third floor I found no problems with noise as along as the windows were shut. The suite was very comfortable and well stocked with teas, coffees and hot cocoa. The WiFi was easy to use. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. Parking was free and very handy to the back entrance. more

Our room was probably the cleanest hotel room I've ever stayed in. The free breakfast was above average. They served eggs, sausages, pancakes and potatoes in addition to the usual fare of juice, cereal, pasteries, etc. There are several restaurants within walking distance. The biggest downfall is the hotel's location to the fire station (about a block away). We were... more
