The odds are pretty good, that if you don't have a child enrolled in Henderson State University or Ouachita Baptist University, you won't be staying overnight in Arkadelphia, AR. But if you fall into one of these categories, or are driving down I-30 to Texas, Or up I-30 to Memphis, and you find yourself near Arkadelphia and need a place... More

Right across from Henderson State university. Lovely appointed rooms, great and friendly service, and delicious breakfast. Enjoy rocking on the front porch. Excellent inn for wedding reception or any special occasion. Owned and run by HSU.

For warm southern hospitality, the Captain Henderson House can't be beat. The sheets and towels are top quality and you can tell the property is owned by a state organization (Henderson State University) because the property is obviously up to building code. Plenty of hot water, plenty of accessible outlets. That's not usually my experience at a bed and breakfast.... More

We drove from Memphis to Austin and needed a stopover. We stayed one night at Captain Henderson and it was just lovely. We felt like we were staying in someone's home. We had the Elk room with the balcony; it was clean and spacious. The bathroom had a "real" claw bath and the towels were new and fluffy. The house... More

As the other reviews have stated the house itself is stunning and could be a very desirable place to stay. However, the cleanliness of this facility leaves much to be desired. We stayed in both room #2 and #4 and they were both equally dirty. Climbing the staircase to the second floor is badly in need of cleaning. I stayed... More

This home is absolutely stunning! We booked the The Elk Horn Bank Founders Room for our one night stopover in Arkadelphia. We were stunned by the interior of this house. Everything was incredibly kept and just beautiful. Our room was in this rotunda like corner of the house that made the room look huge! We were greeted by Jennifer and... More

My family stayed in the Regions Bank Room at the Captain Henderson House for 2 nights and it was an excellent experience. The Regions Bank Room is a one bedroom suite with a fold out couch in the parlor area, so it was an excellent choice for my husband and two teenage daughters. All the rooms are beautifully decorated. The... More

This Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful building. I would have liked more information on the restoration process that they went through and the Jacuzzi in our room didn't work and the bed we slept in was extremely small but that is my husband's fault. The building itself is beautifully kept, quiet and very reasonably priced. The manager was pleasant... More

I love Captain Henderson House! I would stay there at least once a month. The house is amazing, the house manager Vickie Jones will bend over backwards to make sure you have everything you would need and want. I feel like I have stepped back in time or into a novel. This place inspires me to no end. The food... More

This old historic home has been painstakingly renovated and is exquisite. The rooms are comfortable and the innkeeper is very attentive to the guests. The bed and breakfast is owned by Henderson State University, which is directly across the street. It's a sleepy little community with two universities and lots of natural beauty. A nice place to stop if you're... More
