Funky hotel, great location, friendly staff, nice rooms with a cool walk in shower. A few negative points though: they are a bit scabby when it comes to repleneshing the shampoo etc, and watch out because that coffee next to the coffee make isn't free! I got stung with a large bill at the end of the stay just for... more

We spent 5 nights here in July, and absolutely loved the place. Our room was awesome - great layout, decor, etc... the shower was also very cool. The rooms were super quiet... you would never hear anyone else, including no doors slamming! ALL the staff were very friendly and helped us out on many occasions. When we checked out, there... more

Stayed for a few days at the Donovan House on the run up to 4th July. Good points:- good location, quirky room styling with fun bathroom, nice roof top bar and pool, great sushi restaurant. Not so good:- staff were polite and professional but not particularly welcoming, everything charged as an extra including the coffees in the room, pool should... more

My husband and I stayed here for July 4th- we are from Maryland but wanted to spend the night in DC without having to drive home. I chose this hotel based on trip advisor reviews and was not disappointed. Though we could not check in early the front desk stored our bag for us and our check in took less... more

Because the hotel is a short walking distance from the mall area, we had oppurtunity to discover quirky shops, breweries, and great food stops along the way. To reach Mount Vernon or Arlington Cemetery, you can catch the main metro rail nearby. The room we got did smell faintly of smoke but once we the air circulated it quickly subsided... more

The hotel is a good hotel, in a great location - close to transport links and sights - easy walking distance to the White House for example and shops, bars and restaurants close by. The room we had was very nice, good views, plenty of amenities etc. Friendly and helpful staff did what they could to make our stay enjoyable.... more

Loved this hotel. Went to DC with my 8 year old daughter and wanted a cute hotel, luxurious but not too expensive, centrally located. The hotel is fantastic, super clean, I mean you can eat off the bathroom floor. Beds super comfy, quiet, you can sleep and hear nothing, no other person flushing their toilet, etc. The personnel is super... more

Donovan House lured me in with promises of a hip and trendy hotel with a rooftop bar and pool. The pool closes early (10 PM), and the bar and restaurant were closed for private parties during my stay. The AC in the gym was broken, but the equipment and setup was nice. The price per night figures in all these... more

This hotel obviously aspries to coolness, but the weekend we were there, it was hot -- really hot. Because the air-conditioning was broken. They couldn't move us to another room because they were already full, so we asked for some fans. They took an hour and a half to arrive, as did the extra pillows and blankets we requested. In... more

Nice, new, well-appointed hotel by the trendy Thompson lot. I loved the rooms but they are very modern, very white with nice ambient lighting etc, so if you're a traditionalist don't bother. I'm not, and thus I liked it. Rooms are a good size too, and have all the usual nice trendy bathroom amenities that you find at Thompson hotels.... more
