This was our 4th visit to the Madera. The staff is sincerely friendly and helpful - everyone! The neighborhood is wonderful - we always have our dog with us and love walking with him around Dupont Circle. It has an intimate feeling. More

I love Kimpton hotels, I go out of my way to stay with them whenever possible. I did find my time at the madera a bit disappointing. The hotel is a bit cramped, especially upon arrival - more than one guest checking in at a time = chaos. The rooms, specifically the bathrooms were not up to the usual high... More

Dear Mnerlinger, thank you for being a loyal Kimpton guest! Our goal is to exceed the expectations for our Guests. I am truly sorry the Hotel facility was a bit cramped than some other Kimpton Hotels. we are definately a smaller footprint of a building compared to others, yes the Palomar is larger and more public space. The other side... More

I always feel welcome by the many familiar faces at the Madera. The staff are uniformly warm and helpful--never any 5-star attitude. They are accommodating of special requests like pet-free floor and early arrival, and they demonstrate a real appreciation of loyal InTouch members. Perfect location if you want Dupont Circle--I routinely walk to the Kennedy Center--and one of the... More

Like a European hotel, the Madera feels like it's part of the fabric of its neighborhood--in this case the Dupont Circle area and Embassy Row. I suspect the building was formerly an apartment house, so the lobby area is rather small, but the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and nicely appointed. The staff is very sharp and attentive. We can't wait... More

My husband and I stayed for 1 night the day after Christmas, and we had a fabulous experience! The concierge was extraordinarily friendly and helpful when we checked in (and out), and our room was ready even though we checked in early. Room was supremely clean, spacious, very tastefully decorated, and the bed was very comfy. We were in a... More

Very reasonable price for D.C., but the bathroom is so small that you cannot dry yourself without hitting the wall if you are not careful. The bedroom is adequate and very clean. The lobby does not have seating for more than 4 people, so the wine hour is squeezed into a very small space. However the location in Dupont Circle... More

Dear SilverSue803, Thanks for your review. I'm happy you found our hotel to be a good value and convenient location. We are definately a smaller hotel in comparison to others. We try to use the smaller size to our advantage to provide a personalized and friendly level of Guest service. Hopefully you experienced this. Thank you again for the review... More

I frequently have business in the Dupont Circle neighborhood, and always stay at one of the nearby Kimpton Hotels. Madera is my favorite, but I usually stay where the room rate is lowest. On this trip I paid only $134/night at Madera. On a trip a few months earlier the lowest rate was at Kimpton Hotel Rouge at $204. I've... More

Just stayed for 3 nights (Fri, Sat, Sun) and had a fantastic time. Huge room with very comfortable bed, great location SUPER close to subway and Dupont Circle neighborhood (truly less than a 3 minute walk), friendly staff and additional perks like.... cocktail hour between 5 and 6 (red and white wine, local beer, spiked and regular hot apple cider),... We had a fantastic weekend stay here. We were on a higher floor with a balcony and I loved the view of the neighborhood and the pretty building across the street. Dear 7sunset, thanks for a posting a review! Sounds like you had a great visit. Yes, most of the rooms are quite spacious, and yes most of the rooms do have the shower and toilet in the smaller bathroom. This does make it a little "cozy" in the bathroom. But with the sink/vanity being outside the bathroom area, it is... More
