My wife and I spent the weekend as tourists in D.C. and enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Madera. What impressed us most was the friendly service by the staff. Kelly L., the manager on duty, went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed, offered some great advice and was just a nice friendly person.... More

I have stayed at the Madera on two separate occasions. Both times the service was extraordinary. The room was spacious and well equipped. The lobby is very small (so the usual Kimpton wine hour was very cramped). But it is the service that will bring me back. I travel a lot and stay in upscale resorts for business. The service... More

Thank you R.C! It is so great that we can keep you coming back. We do pride ourselves on excellent and personal service, so thank you so much for the compliments! It is great to hear that we are even better than a larger upscale resort. I am glad that our cozy lobby doesn't stop you from enjoying wine hour,... More

I expected a nice room in a boutique hotel in DC. I got that and much, much more. My room was so large that each time I looked for the bathroom I found a small room with an elliptical trainer. If I had the bathroom was around the other corner! The room had a desk, where I was able to... More

Dear NDrakatos, Thank you so much for the awesome feedback! As the new General Manager of The Madera, I am really excited that we could make your stay such a great one! It sounds like your room worked out great for you, but hopefully you didn't spend too much time working at the desk, especially with this great spring weather.... More

If you enjoy the Dupont Circle neighborhood, the Madera is a wondrous little find. I first stayed there years ago when it first opened as a Kimpton property . Over the years the physical edges frayed a tad but the quality of the service was always wonderfully friendly and efficient. The recent overhaul has restored the panache. If anything, an... More

Dear Bob R, Thank you! I am so glad that we can keep you coming back after all these years. I love hearing that our service level has been unwaveringly high! Good thing Firefly does our room service, too, so you can enjoy that delicious food in the comfort of your room! Can't wait to see you next time! Thank... More

The boutique hotel is well located steps away from Dupont Circle shopping and entertainment. The Firefly bar/restaurant on the ground floor had great breakfast. Staff was very professional but not friendly. I found the hotel a bit cramped with a non existent lobby. There was no room for a ramp so I had to lift my suitcases up 2 or... More

Great location. Large, clean rooms with special touches. Friendly, helpful staff. The restaurant and bar downstairs are also exceptional. One pet peeve: the computer near the lobby costs $8 for 15 minutes. Why, if one is already paying over $200 a night? Just doesn't seem right.

Having stayed in many Kimpton properties in the area I already had relatively high expectations for this place and it did not disappoint. The staff here is extremely friendly (I even caught one of the housekeepers hit the button on the elevator for me as I approached) and the rooms are well appointed. I had dinner at Firefly a couple... More

It seems like this older property was a conversion from residential at some point. There is almost no lobby, which is usually a Kimpton gathering point for their complementary evening wine and morning coffee. The rooms have a spacious living/sleeping area, but also has bathrooms that seem the minimum size by building code. The closets are oddly wide yet shallow.... More

My husband, daughter, granddaughter and I stayed for 7 nights at the Madera. We were all very pleased with the room, the location, and the staff. The first morning after our arrival we discovered the faucet in the tub only ran HOT or COLD..nothing in between. We called down and this was the was taken care of by the time... More

The Madera is the 4th Kimpton we've stayed at. It is the smallest one we've been to, and I would recommend it for any family visiting DC. It is in a charming neighborhood filled with beautiful old buildings and a variety of great restaurants. Two short blocks from the south entry to the Dupont circle metro (and from there very... More
