If you get the chance check in with Nicole. Helpful, attentive, gave us great recommendations an overall treat to deal with. Shout out to Tee who was also attentive and helpful at check in. We stayed in room 609 and while it is decent the stucco did little to hide the major cracks in the ceiling, the toilet ran every... More

Staff very attentive to us send dog. Appreciate the wine hour and water in lobby. Room was small but functional and was very quiet. Staff recommended 2 great restaurants in the area...Rasika in particular was a jewel. All in all a very pleasant stay.

My husband and I stay at Madera every time we come into DC for a little getaway. This was our 4th stay and once again, Madera made it a wonderful trip. We decided last minute to see if the rates were good on our way back from another vacation. We had our 8yr old with us, who had never been... More

Dear EbethJohn, Nothing like coming home right? I'm so happy you have found a place in DC that has made you and your family feel so welcome. Excellent location, excellent service, excellent rooms what else could one want? Between free bikes, yoga mats, goldfish, and wine hour we truly have it all! Please tell Ella we say hello and we... I've stayed at the Madera a number of times over the years and always liked it. Last time was especially nice. Nicole was great with getting me a late checkout and Kelly(?) was wonderful in getting me set up with the free bike. Even chasing me down the street to make things right.

We booked an execute king with a pull out couch but when we checked in they gave us a different room because our room was sold out! WTH? I had specifically paid extra for a room with king bed and pull out couch/separate seating area because we are travelling with a 3 year old. We want to be able to... More

Yakan, I'm so sorry we did not live up to your expectations. The room you were moved to was actually a bigger room given as an upgrade as the original room was not available. I apologize you thought the tv would be in a separate are but all our tvs are in the bedroom. It is unacceptable your room was... More

Staff is friendly, but hotel is small and of the boutique style. There is one person when you check in and that person checks you, carries your bag up the stairs to the elevator, sets your morning wake up (which is delivered by a person and not an automated system) and helps get a cab, etc. So, you need to... Cuteesq! Thank for pointing out our love of personalizing guest interactions such as a human wake up call rather than a machine recording. Our small boutique size allows us to create more memories for the guests. I apologize you did not receive the best view the last time you were here. The back of our building looks more towards georgetown... More

I have a very good idea of this hotel after spending one week, and staying in three different rooms. The room changes were due to a malfunction in the air conditioning. Not a very pleasant experience when the temps topped 95 degrees. Still, I give this hotel high marks because staff were totally accommodating and sympathetic to my needs to... More

I've stayed at Hotel Madera when I'm in DC on business several times, and it's a great option. The location is ideal- near Dupont Circle but not right in it, close to lots of restaurants and bars, and about 4 blocks from the metro. The staff is always very friendly and go out of their way to make you comfortable.... More

I assumed this would be a good hotel, because we had stayed in another Kimpton Hotel in Alexandria, Virginia, which was great. But our room at the Madera was even BETTER. The service at the Madera was even BETTER. And the location was even BETTER. Our room was surprisingly large, with a balcony. The concierge and bellhops were very friendly.... More

I really enjoy Kimpton's hotels -- a good mix of great service, large rooms, and a warm/friendly atmosphere. The Madera hits those marks, but the physical plant is really lacking. First, its an old building with basically no lobby at all. However, the location on NH Ave and N Street is good -- 5 min walk to DuPont Circle. Rooms... More

Dear Dmorris12, Thanks for taking the time to fill out such a lengthy review. I am sorry that the physical property did not live up to your expectations but it sounds like our service hit home. As a small property we are better able to interract with our guests creating a better feeling of home than a large property will.... More
