Our family stayed in two suites for our visit to DC. Everyone at the Carlyle from the valet to the front desk staff were very nice and helpful. We really liked the location as well being a short walk to DuPont Circle and the Metro. Unfortunately, we found the rooms themselves to be worn and lacking. The rooms are spacious... More

My stay at the Carlyle was wonderful. ALL of the hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Although the room is on the small size 3 of us were able to stay comfortably with a double bed and added roll away bed. The entire building was impeccably clean and well kept. It is in a nice, quiet neighborhood within walking... More

My mom and I were planning a "girls trip" to DC for a few days. We were brining my two daughters and my 10 year old cousin with us so we read review after review. We found this hotel online and decided to book after reading the good reviews. This hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff makes this hotel. Upon... More

Dear Temalia, I am absolutely happy to hear that we were part of the girls' trip SUCCESS that you and your mom had with the kids. Bria is just amazing in decorations and dream making, I am glad your daughter "felt special". Here at Carlyle we really do care about personalization and I am glad we met this goal with... More

One week in two oversized suites made for a great visit to DC. My wife had one of the grand kids in the room with the couch. I had the other in the double, double with the bistro table and chairs. We could open our windows and look out over the roof tops of what could have been Paris.

We stayed here for 3 nights and from check in to check out everything was excellent. Staff was so helpful. Room was available upon check in. Clean, really nice room. Refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot. Loved the shower with no shower curtain-fantastic...clean, really nice. Location was excellent. We walked everywhere! Dupont Circle location was really great. We actually walked all the... More

If you're thinking there's anything grand about this place, there's not, but I didn't mind. You can tell it's an old place that they've brought back to life with paint and new finishes. It's got an older deco feel. What's important to me is that it is clean and well-maintained. I found it quiet too, which was most important to... More

My family stayed at the Carlyle for 3 nights in July. The hotel is a converted Art Deco apartment building in a great location where several embassies reside. It's an easy walk to the metro and restaurants near DuPont circle. The room was large and quiet and the bed very comfortable. The only negative would be that because it is... More

Based on my preconceived ideas I assumed the Carlyle would have been more grand. Both the lobby and rooms were small. Our room was a < 400 sq ft suite with two double that took up most the space. Kitchenette(mini-frig, sink, microwave, cooktop, cups dishes pots and pans, dish soap)was tiny and simple. No utensils. Bath was small as well.... More

Dear TripadCaptain1, I am sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations during your recent stay with us. It sounds like you were in one of our classic rooms with two beds. We also have larger rooms with two beds and sleep sofa which is quiet large enough to accommodate up to four adults. Please e-mail me next... More

The Carlyle was such a pleasant surprise. The lobby area is smallish and so I didn't expect much of the room, but actually the room turned out to be quite spacious. With a small kitchen and small dining table. A fairly large walk in closet and a nice big bed. Staff were very friendly. The hotel only has 1 resturant... More

Travelers planning to stay more than a day or two would do well to consider this refurbished apartment building. Rooms come with a tiny kitchen containing a cook top, refrigerator and sink, and dishes. Room size varies, as does condition (the higher the price the brighter and more spacious the room) but most include a sofa bed, making this a... More
