The hotel exterior is not maroon/burgandy as illustrated on the photo, but cream. For the price I paid, it was definately based on location. No frig or microwave, and the breakfast buffet was nearly $20 including tax. The positives were friendly guest services, comfortable beds, very soft towls and our room was cleaned excellently daily. This Hilton was easy to... more

My wife and I chose the Capital Hilton based upon its location - for that, we were extremely pleased. For visiting the many monuments, museums, and historic locations in D.C., the location of this hotel is great. However, the hotel is in great need of an update. Our room was supposed to be a non-smoking room and while I am... more

Our stay began well. We were met with warmth and professionalism by the valet attendant and bellhop upon our arrival. The greeting at the front desk was less enthusiastic. Actually, one would venture distance and snippiness. We had booked with Hot Wire which appeared from the vantage point of the front desk to be somewhat inferior to other "reserved guests."... more

I would recommend this property. The room was a huge and clean. The bathroom was also a nice size. The fitness club was very well equipped for both cardiovascular and resistance. Room service was timely and accurate. more

The Capital Hilton has a fantastic location, only 2 blocks from the White House. My room even had a (sideways) view of the White House. I spent 5 days in DC and loved every minute of it. Only downside is that the a/c unit seemed to be stuck on a lowish temperature. But that was not a big issue for... more

My husband and I were visiting the White House early in the morning, and booked this hotel because it was close, and very conveniently located. They allowed us to check in early, but we were very disappointed when we got to our room. Although it was Non-Smoking, it reeked like an ashtray. Luckily, they allowed us to switch rooms, but... more

This is a great location! It's walking distance from the White House, the Washington Monument, and night life on 14th street. Street parking is minimum, so please be advised that parking at the hotel is $40/night. The only option is Valet Parking. Guests should expect to pay to use the computers in the business center ($.99/minute and more to print).... more

Hotel is so close the the white house , 2 blocks away so perfect spot for a city break. We stayed in a mini suite which was quite spacious but no view. Room a wet bar and fridge which was very handy. Bedroom and bathroom both very nicely decorated. good value for money, breakfast deal $10 a couple, best hotel... more

May 11, 2009 | Trip type: Family

My family of five just returned from a Mother's Day weekend stay at the Capitol Hilton and we were pleased with our visit. The room itself was very nice and large, though we did have a corner double queen room (probably thanks to my husband's HIlton Gold status). In any case, we had plenty of room to move around and... more
