I had to come to DC for a short meeting and since it was start of a holiday weekend I decided on a whim to have a night out and stay over. I quickly needed to find a room that met the following critieria: *Clean *Conveniently located *Less than $150 I turned to Trip Advisor and as usual my fellow... More

State Plaza is a very conveniently located hotel in DC, very close to all major tourist attractions. But from a relative point of view, when its cold, most attractions appear far as they are easily accessible only by cabs, which is expensive. Overall, the hotel staff was courteous and helpful, the room was BIG, and the price down to earth.... More

the staff is helpful, beds very comfortable, the suites practical. the room was hot (the middle of winter) but we were able to open a window. the price was lower than usual as demand in d.c. that week was lower. we found a garage nearby and negotiated a price with them, as the hotel's parking rate is high. the disappointment... I stayed for one week, using the room as HQ /bathroom / warming room-emergency crash pad + storage for a 5 day and night vigil outside the State Dept. It was without a doubt the best hotel experience I have ever had. EVERY staff member was exceptionally, genuinely service oriented -- and not just groveling for a tip! Every special... More

State Plaza used to be an apartment building years ago. Each room has a kitchenette, a dressing area/bathroom and the main bedroom. We really enjoyed having the extra space and the fridge to feel our growing boys on the cheap. It's right on the George Washington University Campus, and the walk to the Metro was beautiful. It's urban and near... More

I stayed in early December 2010. Got a $139 rate for weekday and $89 for weekend, $30/day for valet parking. These are very good rates for DC. The hotel is on the west side of the White House, which is the unfashionable side, so you will find yourself away from good restaurants, attractions and the Metro. It abuts GWU. The... More

The staff was very helpful, especially Hassan. He made sure we had maps, great restaurant choices, and extra information when necessary. The room was comfortable and convenient, great arrangement for us because we had a baby in the group. The room was quiet, a great sanctuary after a busy day on the Mall. We walked to all the locations, strolling... More

The location of this hotel was good - walking distance to the attractions. The bell boy was very helfpul when we first arrived. We were surprised to find our room had a kitchen which was good to buy breakfast from the convenience store next door and eat it in the room. We stayed for 3 nights and had VERY hot... More

The State Plaza was a pleasant surprise. Our room was very large, with kitchen, dressing room and decent bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was very convenient to the Mall, with a 24 convenience store next door. We stayed there because of positive reviews on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. lellismurphy

We got a suite at the State Plaza hotel and it was just perfect for us. We had a full kitchen, little diningroom table and livingroom with a pull out sofa. The service was great. The front desk gave us several great recommendations for restaurants and called us a cab whenever we needed it. The bellmen couldn't have been more... More
