Although the decor and furniture are dated and the bathroom could use updating, this is an incredible value for a DC hotel! It could not have been any cleaner or more comfortable, and the staff could not have been more courteous, but the elevator could have been worlds faster. The rooms are HUGE! We were originally placed in a room... More

Checked into the State Plaza hotel last weekend and right away you could tell it was boutique. The parking isn't advertised and that's because it's $35/ night which I found a steep. Still I decided to park my car underground for a little more peace of mind. The area seemed sketchy and the weather wasn't great. Our room wasn't available... More

I was meeting a European camera crew at the hotel during the National Conference on Terrorism when I (a professional female) was stopped at the front door by a Middle Eastern attendant and African American security guard. They were not questioning any of the male guests on where they were going and I did not feel it was any of... More

I've stayed at this hotel before, on a leisure trip during a tour of the East Coast. This time, I was there on business and booked the hotel as I knew it was good value and in a pretty good location. It's close to the Mall and all of the monuments, although probably the wrong side of town for Downtown.... More

I've stayed numerous times at this property and it has several big pluses: spacious apartment-like accommodations, outstanding rates and a good location that is walking distance to the Foggy Bottom Metro station one way and to the monuments and memorials the other way. I have found the staff to be responsive to my requests. However, on this trip, there were... More

First, this is a converted apartment building. If you can image staying in your grandmother's retirement community apartment--minus all the clutter--this is your place. The furniture is very much what your grandmother would purchase--high end in the 60s/70s and still functional today. Every time we stay here we always gets a suite. This allows us to have a separate bedroom,... More

I came to DC for business and was thrilled with how lovely the staff were especially Tevin who was working 'front of house' and extremely helpful! Not the fanciest of hotels but perfect for people of business - also great that the rooms come equipped with a full kitchen!

I stayed at that hotel for 3 days at Labor day. The location is good but we had a car already so did not need to walk around. The room was clean and staff was helpfull.. The only thing that I do not understand at most of USA hotels they have two double bed at the same room.. :)

I visited the State Plaza with two girlfriends over the weekend from Ottawa, Canada. We were in Washington for a concert and wanted a place to stay close to DAR Constitution Hall. I agree with some of the reviews I read that the hotel is a little dated, but the cleanliness and outstanding service from the staff made the difference.... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the State Plaza. We had a Queen Suite - it didn't have a view but it had a good bathroom, a dressing room, where my wife enjoyed having a space to do her makeup, and a full kitchen. The staff were highly accommodating, and tried very hard to please us. It's about a 15... More
