I chose this hotel because of its location right in the middle of George Washington University. I was there for my daughter's graduation, and the State Plaza was a perfect base of operations. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was large and very nice. Having a kitchen area with refrigerator was handy. One minor complaint: the... More

Great location wihtin walking distance to White House and even to Georgetown and J F Kennedy center. Large rooms, really nice and helpful personnel. The area is within George Washington University area, and there is not much reastaurants or other amusements during the evenings. (not for those who are more after lively nigth life). Again I had troubles with the... More

Stayed here for a long weekend get away in DC and was completely happy with the hotel and especially the Reservations Manager, Sherina Corbova. I had mistakenly booked at the hotel's sister hotel using Expedia and she was helpful way beyond the call of duty in getting the reservations changed to the State Plaza. I cannot say the same for... An excellent location, combined with competitive rates and pleasant, apartment-style rooms, make this a hotel I will return too. It is not luxurious but has all has all the basics one needs. There were some issues related to renovations currently being undertaken, but those should all be resolved as the work gets completed. More

This hotel's greatest asset was its superb and convenient location, and its moderate price for the area. I would stay there again. But the hotel has a really bizarre layout with two entrances that are nearly identical at opposite ends of a very long corridor. When you are in one lobby, it looks just like the other, which is very... More

Our third visit to this hotel. Located just minutes walk to Mall near reflecting pool, Lincoln Memorial and State Department. A Whole Foods Store just 4 blocks away. and Metro station. Very clean newly renovated. Very nice staff. Only potential hitch was parking, which can be limited, but we lucked out and got a slot in the Hotel (valet) parking... More

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. Sort of a small old fashioned apartment (think your grandmother's apartment in Brooklyn with the light switches painted over a million times) more than a hotel room. The decor was more than a bit outdated but the rooms and kitchen were very clean and the beds were amazingly comfortable except the sofa... More

Dear SoCal_mother, We are happy to let you know that we are currently updating our rooms and some of them are almost done. They look beautiful and fresh and no more of the old paint. We hope to have you back in the future to give us another review of our "updated" rooms. More

I stayed at this hotel for three nights. I chose the hotel for its proximity to Whole Foods, as I was on vacation with my 2 teenaged daughters, and I prefer to cook my own meals. My title of the review is in reference to the movie Sunset Blvd. The hotel is an old apartment building; pretty but in need... More

Dear brownieyez, Thank you for giving us your review. We apprecaite you pointing out things where we can improve on. We are currently undergoing a renovation floor by floor and hopefully once completed, that'll address some of these matters. I also spoke to our Front Office Manager regarding the attentiveness of our Front Office Staff to our Guests. Take care... More

It's 5 minutes from the Lincoln Monument, 10 minutes from the subway so location is great. Great space in the rooms. Very comfortable. This is more basic accommodation so don't go looking for the bell hop! The restaurant is really awful - the food substandard and the service worse. Plus the hotel is split over two building so to get... More

We stayed at the State Plaza Hotel for 1 night. Unfortunately, we chose a wrong date when booking the room. The manager at the front desk, Mohammed, suggested to call hotels.com where we booked the room in order to change the date. He help us changing the date and was very helpful. In the end, we didn't have to pay... More
