Great classic hotel with a storied past, close to White House and most of the monuments within walking distance. Great food in Lobby restaurant and great service. Concierge arranged for a car for us to see memorials at night. Great value given the bus options if you are a party of 4 to 6. Our girlfriends getaway to see our... More

Stayed for 4 nights in mid-July on my first trip to DC and would definitely go back - lovely historic hotel in a nice location! Great location (very close to Metro station, and Dupont Circle with lots of bars and restaurants), decor in the main lobby area is grand, hotel's Edgar bar is open until late (with post-dinner snack options),... I stayed here in June 2014 for a weekend following a week of meetings at another hotel on the basis that this was a top notch hotel. It's slogan: "The second best address in Washington" is from another time. This is a classic old-school hotel with a renovated lobby that is living on its former glory. Not all of the... More

I went with my son to Washington, D.C. and we checked In ok. The room was nothing to write home about. We only had a fast breakfast there and it was okay. However, and this is a big however, the maids for both my son and myself, on 2 separate floors were extraordinarily rude. My son spoke to the manager... More

The hotel was bustling with weddings this particular Saturday, but that didn't stop the staff from being very cordial and helpful. We got to check into our room an hour early which is so unusual for most hotels. The complimentary lemonade and snacks are a nice touch at check in. We had a drink at Edgars and everyone there was... Others said great location. Was within walking distance to National Mall but not a short walk. Since there is much walking to do to see Monuments and Museums, would have liked to be closer. Not many amenities. Nice hotel. Very helpful staff.

Nice historic hotel, close to restaurants and the metro that can take you anywhere in DC. Arrival was a bit hectic as the hotel seemed quite crowded and there were a number of other guests checking in, but every employee seemed friendly and competent. Room was large, especially for DC hotels.

Just this evening, while trying to be seated at Edgar, we were ignored for a half hour despite being guests at the hotel. The hostess was not available and when she finally gave us a menu, we were not shown where to sit. The bar took an additional 20 minutes to place our order and made us move from where... More

We booked a room with two double beds. On arrival, after a long road trip from NYC we were informed there were none to be had. Our fault, it seemed, having not booked through the hotel directly. Odd way to treat new guests. We were put into a double room and told we could have two roll away beds (four... More
