The taxi driver at the airport asked me if I "REALLY' wanted to go to the Lee Allen, and could he maybe take me somewhere else? No, I said, I was booked in at the Lee Allen and that was where I was going.. OK, he said but you can stll change your mind. I didn't change my mind. And... more

Despite the other reviews on this site, I booked here anyway and really enjoyed my stay. I was in a room on the first floor. Next time (and there will be a next time) I will request a room on one of the upper floors. The room is small, but super cute. The room, restroom, shower and other facilities were... more

If you ever hear anything remotely positive about this hotel, don't believe it for a second. I can't fathom how cesspools like this are allowed to stay in business. We (my wife and our two school-aged boys) made reservations at the AL for a much-anticipated March Break trip to Washington on the recommendation of a Michelin travel guide which described... more

The Allen Lee doensn't look like much from the outside, in fact I would suggest a new paint job is desperately needed, but inside it's not too bad. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly gentleman at the front desk. We had several questions and he was extremely polite and helpful. I loved the elevator because it... more

It is terrible!!! Don't ever go there!!! When we checked out, we suddenly had to pay more for the room. When we said that it wasn't the deal, the owner just said that he didn't care, and since he had our card number he would just transfer the amount from our cards anyway!!!! more

This is really a terrible place to stay. Very smail, unsecure and dirty rooms. There are bugs. Very small bathroom. The heater didn't work and it was really cold. Only recommended for very low budgetted travellers. Good things: very good location, excellent internet access from lobby and certain rooms. Breakfast is ok. The building needs urgent repairs. more

This place is dirty, small and very very disgusting. I got a room in the basement and wanted to cry when I saw it. I even found a cockroach. The staff does not not what their job is, they are really bad-mannered and the only answer they would give to any complaint is you can leave the hotel if you... more

This little hated hotel has been my worst nightmare. The hotel has tiny room, really expensives for their price and dirty bathrooms (I found a hair in the towels!). The hotel has terrible security rules and the only thing nice is the breakfast. I WOULD NEVER RETURN TO THE ALLEN LEE. The location is great but trust me, the cost... more

The Allen Lee's location, within walking distance to all the main Washington sights and the Metro, is unbeatable. My single room was small but very comfortable. The room had cable TV, plus a small sink. The shared bathroom was spacious and clean, and the breakfast (along with free newspapers) was fantastic. Given some of the negative posts (many of which... more
