Me and the missus stayed here for 5 nights in May 2008. This is not a normal bed and breakfast where your hosts cook for you each morning. Instead you are staying in a fully furnished 5 room apartment on the lowest level of their home. You are provided with all the raw materials to cook what you want (bagels, eggs, cheese, fruit, coffee, etc.) each day in a fully functional kitchen. We paid $150 a night for a place that could have slept six, and we were quite happy with the accomodations. The location is about 1/2 mile from the Eastern Market Metro station in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of DC. It's a nicely quiet, tree lined area just south of Lincoln Park that we felt quite comfortable and safe walking around to get to the Metro or the local grocery store.
The owners, Mary and Jim, were very friendly and gave us a tour of their beautifully decorated home. We spent well over an hour talking to them about our collective travels and families. They could not have been nicer or... more
