We recently stayed at the Akwaaba DC for the 2013 Presidential Inauguration. We live in Maryland but wanted to be in the District for inauguration events. I've always wanted to stay at one of the Akwaaba properties and this was a great opportunity to visit. The stay made the inauguration experience all the more special. The staff was professional, attentive,... More

I have stayed in hotels and hostels throughout the world and none are more enjoyable than Akwaaba in Dupont Circle. I only wish I could have stayed longer. The breakfasts are delicious, the accommodations clean and quiet; the overall environment is warm and inviting (the word in Spanish is 'acogedor'- somewhere that beckons, makes you want to enter, and once... We have stayed at Akwaaba three times and each event has been a treat. The staff is pleasant, accomodating, and the breakfasts are delicious. Sneaking in late at night allows one to pilfer some homemade cookies, drink a bit a tea, and enjoy a very comfortable bed. Guests have been a treat in the morning as well. For us the... More

Ohhh Akwaaba how you make my love for DC even fonder!! My mother and I went to celebrate our milestone birthdays (30th & 60th). We had no clue what to expect for neither one of us have ever stayed at a black owned B&B. I'm glad we went in with no expectations! Our whole basis for the weekend was to... More

Akwaaba is a great B&B! Our room (the modern classic) was nice and quiet (third floor and not facing the front). The innkeeper Joanna was very friendly and worked very hard to make sure her guests enjoyed their stay. Just like with other reviewers she also gave us great tips for dining and sightseeing. The breakfasts (and the 5 PM... More

This B&B is absolutely amazing and worth every drop of effort to get to. Breakfast is home-made and staff are just exquisite!!! It books up quick, so make sure to call and get the room of your choice early.

My fiance and I stayed at the Akwaaba when we went to Washington DC to get married. We couldn't have chosen a better bed and breakfast! The innkeeper, Joanna, was hospitable, welcoming and helpful as we planned out where we would eat and visit during our stay. She was also an amazing cook! Breakfasts at the inn were delicious! Joanna... More

As part of a group of 3 couples travelling to DC for a 4 night vacation we decided to try a B&B rather than a known hotel chain. It was a great decision. Our innkeeper Joanna was just terrific. Always willing to help and provide her local knowledge. Added plus was we got to meet other folks visiting DC and... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in October and we really enjoyed our stay. The Bed & Breakfast is located in a very nice residential area. It is walking distance from restaurants, museums, the metro, the National Mall and all the attractions. Our room (modern classics) was very nicely decorated, it was clean and spacious with all the amenities you... More
