The Dupont Circle location, fine food and a beautiful old home combine to make Akwaaba D.C. an extremely pleasant place to stay in Washington. It's reasonably close to a subway stop, and a roughly 20 minute walk to the White House. Joanna, the housekeeper, was helped us figure out which of the many nearby restaurants to go to, as well.... What a wonderful way to spend a stay in Washington DC! The innkeeper Joanna, was a delight and very accommodating. Breakfasts were great and every evening we looked forward to wine and cheese along with home-made cookies. We stayed in two different rooms and we loved both. The only downside was that since the B&B is on a fairly busy... More

We stayed in the "Inspiration Room" for 4 days. The room is exactly like described: large room, bright, romantic and clean. The housekeeper Joanna was very friendly and helpful. We were sorry to leave but we will definitely come back! Positive: - Location: easy to get there from metro. Walking distance to National Mall. - Friendly housekeeper: Joanna’s breakfast was... More

Akwaaba is in a great location and was the cream on the cake of our visit to Washington. Our room and the communal spaces of this lovely old home where comfortable and beautifully decorated. The ensuite bathroom was much better than any others I've experienced in a B&B. The breakfast and mid afternoon refreshments were deliciously prepared by Joanna. These... More

I just returned from my third stay at the Akwaaba DC Inn. There is no more lovely a place to stay while visiting Washington, DC. From the welcoming charm of innkeeper Joanna Salado to the scrumptious breakfasts she prepares and the richly appointed rooms honoring an African-American literary figure, Akwaaba DC is the ultimate in comfort and sophistication. Its location... More

We stayed in the Langston Hughes Suite for 6 days. The room was spacious and well decorated with a HUGE bed. The bathroom was more than ample and included a 2 person jacuzzi. The breakfasts were splendidly prepared by Joanna and the rooms were cleaned each day.

Easy to get to from metro. Joanna wonderful and helpful. Other guests were a joy to visit with and enjoyed my stay. Will return with spouse in future.DC wouldn't have been as enjoyable without Akwaaba.

Akwaaba B & B was a terrific place to stay on our first visit to D.C. Our hostess, Johanna, was extremely helpful in all aspects of our visit - from the incredibly delicious breakfasts to the evening wine and goodies to providing directions and assistance whenever needed. Our room was clean and quiet and we so enjoyed meeting and talking... More

My husband and I just returned from a weekend in DC. We found Akwaaba on Trip Advisor and decided to give the B&B a try instead of our typical hotel stay. What a treat! The building and rooms were very clean. That's a huge selling point for me - well, wouldn't it be for anyone?! There was no dust in... More

We recently stayed in the Langston Hughes room-large, beautifully furnished with vintage lighting prints and furniture. Comfy bed. Joanne was a delightful host who gave us great suggestions for restaurants and activities. The breakfast is not to be missed! The inn is located near to so many of the things we wanted to see and do. If you bring a... More
