Our visit to DC and short stay, only two nights, at Akwaaba marked the first time we had been to DC in at least a decade. The city was much how I remember it, busy, crowded and crazy but Akwaaba offered a retreat from it all. The room we had offered no breakfast and was located in what I would... More

Amazing Experience! The food, attention to details for our comfort were superb! This was our 44th Anniversary and what we wanted was a reflective quiet experience! WE GOT IT! The innkeeper, Bonnie, went out of her way and we truly appreciated it! Highly recommended as a wonderful place with wonderful people in a wonderful city!

The only thing better than the ambiance of this charming B&B was the innkeeper, Joanna. Service was awesome, breakfast was delicious!! The interaction of the people at breakfast added charm not found at a traditional hotel.

We chose a B&B for the first time in D.C because the hotels in the locations we were looking were so expensive . We had a wonderful visit. The room was comfortable, our hostess was very helpful and provided a wonderful breakfast as well as evening snacks. We met and interacted many others from all over the world that we... More

Our friends were in DC so we decided to make the short trip from NJ to meet up with them. We had booked a place nearby and after dinner, we stopped by Akwaaba where they were staying to relax and chat. Joanna saw to it that we had snacks, drinks, and made us feel at home. She was so accommodating... More

We stayed in the lower level flat, three rooms + kitchen and two bathrooms. Felt spatious and luxurious (dug a deep hole in our budget though). With the kitchen we also catered for our own breakfast. It fitted the five of us easily (one kid on a sofa bed) Located in the area Dupont Circle there are quite a few... More

This review is really two reviews—one of the Akwaaba itself, and the other of its associated business partner, Bed and Breakfast Washington, which handles all of the bookings and payments for the Akwaaba. Short story for TLDR: The Akwaaba is a lovely place to stay, but only book if you are 1000% sure that your plans (number of nights, or... More

We always appreciate our guests who take the time to offer a review of their stay and are glad this guest found his stay at Akwaaba to be consistent with the experience of the vast majority of our other guests. We work hard to make each stay at Akwaaba DC special. We must take exception to the comments this guest... More

Joanna manages to be a gracious combination of innkeeper, concierge, and pastry chef! Akwaaba DC is in a great location, with DuPont Circle a few blocks west and a newly-chic corridor of restaurants a few blocks east. The living and dining areas are lovely and my room was great, but the outstanding hospitality and fine food--at the evening reception and... More

Loved the location, the room, our overall experience and breakfast of Akwaaba. Great place to stay, close to lots of good restaurants, but still quiet. Joanna really makes the place with her personality, tips on the city, hospitality and cooking. Can't imagine staying anywhere else in DC. Really great value for money!

I spent the 4th of July weekend at Akwaaba DC and had the time of my life. The location is perfect with short walks to restaurants, shops, CVS and the metro. Joanna gets the award for Inn Keeper of the year! She left no stone unturned and provided excellent customer service. Breakfast was great every morning and Joanna offered me... More
